Strange incident in the TOI based on proverbial 'vengeance of the serpents ' ... I fail to find an explanations unless the facts are distorted .... What do you think ?

MOHALI: Revenge of the snake may be an Indian folklore but it became unnervingly real on Friday night. In a tragic tale that left a child dead,
two snakes apparently tried to avenge the killing of a baby reptile by going for the son of the migrant labourer who had slaughtered it.

The incident occurred at a construction site in Industrial Area, Phase IX, where labourers working there have erected some huts. According to information, upon spotting a baby snake in the area during evening hours, a labourer, Uttar Pradesh resident Omvir Singh caught hold of it and killed it.

However, other labourers said this proved disastrous for Omvir’s family as around an hour later, a six-foot long snake crept into the place and entangled his son, Sonu. Panicky onlookers managed to tie the snake’s hood with a cloth and after rescuing the three-and-a-half year old boy from its clutches, killed the reptile. However, the danger was far from over.

Later in the night, while they were sleeping, Omvir and his wife Usha were woken by Sonu’s cry for help. To their horror, the child was bleeding from the lip and said a snake had stung him. Though Sonu was rushed to GMCH-32, doctors declared him brought dead.

General secretary of Mohali Chamber of Industry and Commerce Swaran Singh, who had visited the site, said the migrants were stunned by the snake’s ‘revenge’. “They claimed after the baby serpent was killed, the other two snakes went for Sonu.”
