I am planning to visit Vancouver soon and will appreciate if someone familiar with the city can answer a few quick questions for me.
1. Is there any Indian restaurant offering free or paid parking around 12th avenue desi area in city? (I hate parallel parking)
2. Any desi restaurant near Ramada Inn & Suites Guildford -
10410 158th Street, Surrey ?
3. And finally how long does it take to drive to downtown from Surrey on weekends?

1. 12th Avenue where? Vancouver/Surrey. Please provide address. Most of the Indian restaurants offer free parking.
2. Why are you staying in Surrey. I think Indian food is available at Guildford Mall food court. There are tons of Indian restaurant in Surrey (particularly Scott Road) & Vancouver.
3. Vancouver is a small city as compared to Toronto. Check google maps where you want to go and it gives fairly accurate results for distance/time. I don't expect any traffic problems on weekends.

There is no 12th avenue in Surrey as far as I know (there is one in south surrey very close to the Border but I dont think you are referring to this one. There are Indian restaurants all over the Lower Mainland.

I would recommend going to 128th Street or 120th Street for indian food on the Surrey / Delta border.
If you plan to visit the touristy areas of Vancouver, its not very practical to stay in Guildford, even for the (possibly) cheaper per day rate. Its still a bus or cab ride to the sky train station to get to down town.
I would stay right downtown or in Vancouver proper if I was just going to be visiting...

Timing - depends on the day. if you are taking Highway 1 across the Port mann bridge it gets backed up by 2 pm (heading towards downtown). If you leave earlier than that you should be ok and able to reach there in about 1/2 hr to 40 minutes.
I recommend staying in a hotel where you dont have to cross bridges..

Sorry about 12th lane, I was actually referring to Punjabi Market
Main Street 48th ave in Vancouver.
Just wondering if the above area is congested or will I find free or paid parking at some Indian restaurant.
I want to stay in surry as I will have a rental car and plan to be out of vancouver for 2 days, one to victoria, one to whistler. I will stay one night in downtown area.
Do the bridges back up even on weekends?

Yes.
Avoid Golden Ears Bridge as it is a toll bridge. However it is not likely you will have to use it.

Do not worry about parking (except in downtown) and you will find parking at all indian restaurants and you can park on inside streets too. I am not sure why you are looking for indian restaurants in Punjabi Market but most of the restaurants in that area are really bad (not tried all but my personal opinion).
