As I understand, the original question was/is "Is there racial discrimination in Canada ?"
Nowhere NJ33 has mentioned anything about comparing it to India (or for that matter any other country). So not sure what most of the answers are trying to prove by giving the arguments that there's more discrimination in India than in Canada.
Are you guys trying to make a line shorter by drawing bigger line in parallel to that?
I feel sympathy for TK case. Yes you are right. Jobs are few.
In Gulf countries they will promise you heaven, then as soon as you land – take away your passport.

In Canada their are a few isolated incidents here and their compared to rest of world.
Otherwise Canada is a Land of Milk and Honey
Enjoy.
Jai Ho Canada!!

There are no such enourmous jobs. The prime jobs goes to the locals. If 2 people from apply for the same job, the local gets the jobs.
So there is massive deception and lies. This is reality

Not to highjack the thread..but, how many of you believe that there is racial discrimination in India?
T
Timon,
The dynamics are different.
India has discrimination for sure. But that is between citizens of the country. In a job interview, Mudaliars give jobs to Mudaliar's and Iyers to iyers. May be a OC may not invite a SC to his house or give him to drink from a steel tumbler. Those are all internal problems.
Canada is a country which advertised itself to be a very tolerant country. yet they give PR's to 220K people (the cream of other countries) without creating any jobs for them. The govt. spin people, spin lies by saying :
"Canada is to fill 1 million jobs by 2010"
"Massive shortage of jobs in Canada owing to the retirement of Baby boomers"
" 75 % doctors to retire in the next 3 years'
" Massive labour shortage in Canada from this year' etc.. etc...
But in reality what is happening? There are no such enourmous jobs. The prime jobs goes to the locals. If 2 people from apply for the same job, the local gets the jobs.
So there is massive deception and lies. This is reality

I completely agree with deceit of Canadian Government, though differ with you that "dynamics" in India are different. Once we come to Canada, we all become Canadian and extending your logic of Iyer offering job to Iyer is not a big deal, then White Canadian offering a job to White should have same "Dynamics"
I would like to add that Indian discrimination is more horrible. While in Canada, job discrimination is there, at least they allow our kids to have decent education and those kids who graduate from Canadian schools do not suffer much discrimination. In India, kids are barred (With 70% reservation) from getting the education. We have to select between lesser evil. For me, so long as Kangress is in power, option of going to India does not sound promising. Kangress is extremely anti national which believe in divide and rule.
As regards Canada, I hope Harper gets reelected. I can never forget the trauma of Liberal Raj, the party which cheated me (or all of us, if you really analyze). It was Liberals who at Federal level and provincial level, knowing pretty well that professionals from other countries will end up doing menial/clerical job allowed or rather promoted the propoganda that Canada welcomes immigrants. Liberals are sick in mind and heart. Dalton has immense power to muzzle the professional institutes to recognize our credentials (At least for accounting designations) as each provincial professional body has their own norms and set of regulations but Dalton is so steeped in to corruption and nepotism that he has no time for us.
Yes, there is discrimination in Canada but it offers hope for our kids. In India, there is discrimination to the extreme and offers despair.
I love Canada

Sure it does - its all abt demand , supply and competition ... In India 90% + scoring students commit sucide when not granted admission to a good course and college whereas here I m sure the same student would have been taken in open arms .... In India if you are not in the top 15 - 20 % , you don't get through competititions / good courses .... Success is relatievely easier to achieve here as compared to India ...
Have come across lots of people on CD itself , whose children were average / below average back home but here they are excelling ... Blame it to the (lack of ) competition -- either way there are pros and cons ...
Its not running away .... its running to a less competetive place.... Sucess like most other things is relative .... I ve cited an example above of a girl committing suicide coz she could not get admission to LSR college for a course she wished for ..... I m sure @ 90% even from outside she would have been given admision here in UofT ....
You don't have to be in the competition to be successful ....
