Hi all,
I need you urgent advice on the following matter. Yesterday at my work place I had a very bad incident happened to me. I am working in Automobile sector in Service Deptt. One customer purchased car from us and he came with some problem in car. Me and Tech. tried to figure it out problem and tried to short out the problem that time one of my manager (labnonese) came with sales person and told what happened. We explained the situation and he suddenly started yelling and screaming on me and told that F......ing your Technician hasn’t done a good job and starting yelling on me like crazy. He started in his own language and abused me like a dog or animal.
I told listen nothing related to safety and nothing serious on car, but he was very upset on me and told “F..K of your face off in front of me and PHYSICALLY he pushed me back and told you f..k off from here and screaming and yelling in front of all the staff.
This is second time happened to me few months ago we had a some problem that time we had big meeting with all managers and owner and he promised Whatever happened today will not happened in future again yesterday something happened and this time he physically abused me. I came at my desk and I told my immediate manager about situation and he called owner meanwhile I send an email to my manager and owner too.
Again my owner called me in his office with this manager and we had again meeting He apologized and told I am extremely sorry. I was upset due to customer came back and ballh…ballah…
I am seeking you guys advised what should I do now and what is my right in this situation? Is it any rules and regulation? I am completely upset and thinking to leave the job and look for another job. Yesterday I left early from my job and told my manager that I am not feeling well and came at home.
P.S. this manager working with company almost 18 years now and I finished only 3.5 years. God gift I have a very good reputation in company among with all our staff as I had never been problem with any of staff accept this manager.
Waiting for reply.
Regards,
I think the least you should do is -- report to the police and file an assault charge .... This man should learn that physically assaulting some one is an offence and if he can't control himself he should be taken off the society .... I am sure the Police will help you and you don't have to listen to anyone or compromise on your self respect ..
If need be , you can seek unofficial advice from the Police by calling 416-808-2222 ..... they will advise you on your rights ... maybe you do some one else a favor who might be in your situation next ....
DO NOT leave your job ... Bringing this manager to book and staying in your job can alone accord you peace of mind ...... Respect yourself and be ready to efort for that ..... If I were in your situation , I would not listen to the owner / anyone else but the legal enforcing authorities / Police .....

Fido.
As an add on , you can see a doctor and complain that your back is aching since the physical abuse yesterday ..... bach aches are generally very difficult to diaganose , but this evidence of a visit to the doctor can solidify your case in case some legl options are to be tried out next -- if need be you can take an off for a day or two ....
First talk to the Police , ask your rights / whether you can consult your lawyer , take some time , decide and act accordingly ..... He acted in haste , you can react in patience and still teach him a lesson of a life time ....
The bare fact that your superiors are informed of this can be in your favor legally .... Contemplate legal action if necessary ..... this is similar to some one rear ending you on the road .... it seems to be a win win siuation ....

I believe even if there is NO physical abuse, but verbal abuse it causes a lot of emotional issues. You have right to take action even with verbal comments. No one can harrass you verbally or say "f..k you" in a professional setting.
Is this something that happened in Canada or the Middle East ?
If Canada then what are you doing here on this Forum you should be contacting Police, Laweyrs , Human rights group etc.
I know the Lebanese from 10 yers in the Gulf. But i cannot belive that they can continue to do this in Canada.

1. You need to have a record of complaint and witnesses. I would suggest compiling complete details of the incident (and also mentioning in there that this has happened previously and the agreement was it would never happen again) and send it to your manager in writing (either email or letter). Get an official response or at least have it on record that you ahve reported this.
2. You mentioned that this has happened in full visibility of other staff so you should not have any issues getting witnesses. Remember, the legal system here works on proof and records much more than emotional pleas.
3. Get a lawyer. I personally find the "apologies" from the owner ridiculous considering this has happened twice. Any employer with any common sense would immediately put that manager on suspension and then fire them if necessary. In this case, it sounds like your owner is taking you for granted and assuming you will either leave or not escalate the issue.
There are law firms that can give you really good advice on your issue and some will file a suit and only get paid if you get compensated. Besides, as soon as the "owner" finds out you have hired legal representation, he will take care of this manager if he has any sense. However he may also try to counter you and try to put the blame in your court so make sure you're prepared to deal with this.
It is COMPLETELY unacceptable to be treated like this at work, we're all assured a safe workplace in Canada. There's a bill introduced recently which aims at tacking this issue in Ontario, apparently we're one of the few provinces that don't have very specific legislation on workplace violence and harassment yet. Let me clear more and be honest with you guys,
Acutally me and my wife both are working on same place, I am wondering if they will take any action against me if i go for legal matter and may they will cover up that manager as he is a very good producer for them. In worst case, we both will have to ready for loosing a job right away. And we all now know current situtation in Job market, especially in Automotive sector.
My owner is Juese and he is from labnon with company more than 18 years now.
Be honest, First time we had a problem i did not reply at all, but this time even me reply like him as same way whatever he did, but physically he touch me not me, he just pushed me backwards like go from here right now...." you know what i mean."but one thing be sure that this all started by him.
I already informed in written to my Owner, Fixed Operation Manager, Service Mangar by e-mail.
It happened in Canada.....not at middle east.
Sorry for late reply and not informing this all matters as that day i was really upset and i didn't know what i wrote or what not?
