I have Dell 1000 Inspiron 22 GHz, 256MB & 30GB note book, it was working fine. Now it keeps on checking the memory will not startup windows xp home, when i checked the BIOS hard disk size is showing up '0GB'
Any idea how to restore back the hard disk. Please share your experience.

Might have died. Did you had any warnings? - like, frequent chkdisk on startup? or reboot/crash for no good reasons?
Mine gave such warnings. So, I took backup, installed new drive and ran system restore CD.
If you decide to buy a new harddrive, make sure that you go for approx twice the size of your requirements.
Try booting it from Ubuntu Live CD . That will give you the access to hard-drive and you may be able to get your data in case you have to format the drive.
