Hi All,
I am planning to sponsor my mother but the thing is that she has a pre-existing medical condition though its not that serious but I am not sure how it will be interpretted during the medical examination. My question is that can her application be refused on this basis and if not then will i have to take a seperate insurance policy for her when she comes to Canada?

The medical exam is a hit or miss process, so unless you take a chance of sponsoring her and getting to the medical exam phase, you will not know the outcome. If the condition is like diabetes or hypertension, she will still be able to get through. The CIC says that the condition "should not be a burden on the Canadian HC system"
One thing you have to consider is that it will be over three years by the time your sponsorship is approved and she has to appear for medicals. So, if her medical condition worsens, it will be more difficult.
Once she gets through immigration, then she will be covered under the provincial healthcare after the waiting period of three months. So, you may consider getting her insured for that period after landing.
