I'm an independent software consultant and have a incorporated company.

Looking for a good accountant to handle company accounting ( taxes, filing regularly for GST etc, EI and CPP deductions etc etc...). It would not be very complicated since I'm the only employee currently.

What kind of accountant should I be looking for, i.e. with what qualification? How much would i be paying approximately?

Anybody know anyone good in or around Mississauga? Your recommendations are appreciated.

I am also software consultant. I am not incorporated though. My accountant is in Markham, which I think is too far from where you live.

Anyway, it is lot of JAFA. I would better love back to go to employment....

How right you are, Garvobhai!!!

It is the biggest JAFA in the whole world. Its actually much bigger once you're incorporated. This year is the first time I'm filing as a inc. contractor and its too much, I'm going back to being an employee.

Btw, how much does your accountant charge you? Is he a "gora" or a "desi"?

Desi - Charging 300 for IT return and GST claims.

I am maintaining book of accounts myself

Guys, these scammers rip u off man... I used to own a computer business and I was paying some guy $350 + taxes for this crap....anyway its mostly common sense....you may want to read this book called
Taxes for Dummies for Canadians
pretty useful!

Agreed. I'm not shelling out money for the complexity of it, just the hassle. I think its more psychological than practical, but hey!!

Its not such a big deal to do it yourself though, I'm sure!!
