will indian restaurant be sucessfull in non indian residence area?

hi,
i wanted to know if i open an indian restaurant in an area where 90% are white people including europians,italians ,canadians etc will it be sucessfull?

I believe if you make good quality food, you can certainly run an Indian Restaurant profitably in a area where 90% population is Non Desi and specially white. You have to just take care of 'their taste buds' also. The white people are very fond of our 'Samosas', 'Pakoras', 'Basmati Rice' and 'Curry Powder products'. This I am telling you from my own experience as my elder brother owns an 'ethenic grocery' store in Kitchener and he has more than 20% customers who are white and they regulary come to his shop for buying these products. More so, they have now started buying 'ingrediants like garam masala and other condiments' and make 'Indian Curry Food' in their homes. You would be pleasantly surprised to know that couple of his white clients come from as far as 50 kms away every week to buy stuff in bulk as these white people run 'Indian Restaurant' themselves. They prepare the Indian Food themselves and their most clients are white. BTW, which area you plan to open this restaurant?

I feel it will do well. especially if
1)there are other restaurants in the area. If uours is the only indian one...it my be an advantage as it is in some places in montreal.
2)if you keep it clean and like promod said take care or have the option to keep it less spicier than usual.
There are some indian restautants where the clientelle is white folk most of the time. I know one of these that is doing quite well too.
