Manipuri: Describing China as the biggest threat to the country, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav today slammed the UPA for being a "silent spectator" to alleged Chinese encroachment of Indian Territory.
"China has encroached upon Indian land and is staking claim over areas in Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh but the UPA government instead of taking up the issue with the neighbour and repudiating its claims, has remained a silent spectator," Yadav, a former defence minister, said addressing a function at SBRL Vaishya Academy here.
Terming China as the biggest threat to the country, he asked the central govenrment to take steps to preserve the country's territory.
He said the dam being constructed on the Brahmaputra by China would adversely affect water availabilty on this side.

IAS officer C Umashankar (46) has earned the wrath of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s family and hence the Government of Tamil Nadu. Known to be an honest officer who has been through several adverse situations fighting corruption, Umashankar was suspended last month on State Government’s claim that he had allegedly forged his community certificate to enter the administrative service.

Steadfast Umashankar has filed petitions not only in the Madras High Court but also to the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, urging it for a Central inquiry into the alleged forged certificate and also sought personal security.

NAFED funds fictitious iron ore exports in hurry

The rot in NAFED runs deep. The nation’s premier agriculture cooperative body seems to be doing everything other than following its basic charter of helping farmers. An explosive inquiry report submitted by Justice RR Misra shows how NAFED opened its coffers to all and sundry, including sham iron ore exporters and petroleum importers, who had nothing to do with farmers.

The report reveals that NAFED’s board of directors released huge funds to private companies for iron ore export, which never took place. The report, which runs to over 550 pages, pegs such illegal diversions at `600 crore. The amount was disbursed within hours after production of fabricated shipping bills by several companies with the knowledge of NAFED top officials.

It is no secret that China always covertly or overtly support the companies engaged in export. I have on this thread pasted link in past where a very reputed company like L&T had appealed MMS to rein in China. However, MMS is bent on selling India. Thousands of jobs would be lost to China because of this HUGE order. There are many companies of equal, if not better, competence who can execute the project. It is sad to observe that India, flush with cheap borrowed funds are on drinking binge and do not give damn to such news. When they wake up from slumber, the scenario would be real frightening. MMS would be gone by then and poor would pay the price. Ordinary folks in USA are suffering today because of one bad moron Richard Nixon’s decision to grant Most Favored Nation (MFN) status to China and Clinton’s decision to admit China in WTO. However, irony is that both of them do not share any blame. MMS would be enjoying his retirement and poor in India would be toiling for China as India does not have any social security system.

China dumps cheap manufactured goods in India while importing raw materials from Inida. Meanwhile the greedy and visionless corporate India is busy transferring managerial/IT/outsourcing knowhow to China.

I really don't know whom to blame.

MMS, EVM's or the lumpen proleteriat.
