Hi all,
How soon should someone change their address with auto insurance? I will be moving from low insurance rate area to high area.Can I keep my old address for auto insurance.? I have a friend living there and can collect my mails.
The difference will be in rates will be around 70 dollars per month.Please advise.

not a good idea at all.
what matters is the address where the vehicle is usually parked.
you can use whatever address you want as the mailing address but you have to give them the real address where the vehicle is.
otherwise you are asking for trouble.
they can completely cancel your policy, deny claims, etc. if they find out.
and they can even say this is fraud.

It is sad but true here in ONTARIO , every area code has different sets of price on insurance.
It is really not a good idea to lie about your place... u may save now but if you get into trouble then you will have to pay big time ( cancelation of policy or claim denied )
If you have some close family member or freinds live at same address then you can keep your policy with that address and take new place on your wife name ( again not a wise solution but it may work)
