Need help to find free converters to convert VOB files for use with windows live movie maker?

Does anyone know of any free to use (no watermark on output) converters to convert VOB files to a format accessable by windows movie maker?

Windows Movie Maker does not support VOB files. You will need an application to rip your DVD, then convert it to a supported file type if you wish to use Windows Movie Maker to edit.
Supported versions are -
Video files: .asf, .avi, .wmv
Movie files: MPEG1, .mpeg, .mpg, .m1v, .mp2

Thank you very much for your response. Could you please explain to me what the difference between freesoftware and freeware is (in terms of how I can use it for my movie making?) and also do you personally recommend any of these?

Free Software is a free tool and also open source code. (good for developers)
Freeware is free, but does not have open source.
In terms of converting Vob file to other formats,I recommend virtualubmod. Great tool,easy to use and best of all-free
