Dear CDs,

I have a Canon camcorder with mini DVD which records in .VRO format. I have a licensed version of Cyberlink Power Director 5, however I am unable to convert the .VRO video format to .AVI or .MPEG format for copying onto the regular DVD/editing.

I googled to find the Cyberlink Power Director 5 'premium' can do it - but thats another $90.00...

Do any of the CDs know of a better and cheaper (preferably FREE) option to achieve this? Please PM if you cannot share the info publicly..

Thanks in advance.

Hiren

ive used it to convert between formats but not tried with vro.

works like a charm in most cases.

another option...which I've heard is good but have not tried it myself
google dvdvideosoft...hey have some free convertors that tackle almost all formats including dv.

Thanks Jake,

Maybe because I am a novice in this, I dont see any format listed as VRO in any of the links you prodived, including dvdvideosoft...I also upgraded to cyberlink power director 5 premium, but still unable to edit my video...though I can watch it. I also remember seeing an error message which goes something like..."your DLA has encountered an error accessing this file. You may be able to read it but cannot edit"...not sure of the exact phrase, but thats the meaning.

What could this be?
I am using Win XP SP2..if that matters.

Thanks again.

Hiren, .vro is very similar to an mpeg. Virtualdub will probably be able to open it. If not also try flaskmpeg(freeware if i remember correctly).

But really, virtualdub is quite easy to install and use and you will be able to convert across a variety of formats. If you can read it into virtualdub then you should be able to convert.

The Drive letter access error you are getting could point to incompatible driver that this windows utility uses to make it easy to view media files. Dont worry about it try loading directly into those programs I mentioned above. One of them should work.

edit: one of the links I gave you also had links to this which does vro

Firstly, welcome to CD, seems like your 1st post, and
Secondly, this is a 2 year old post. I'm sure Hiren has found a solution by now.
