I alongwith my wife & two children stayed in Canada for 50 days and returned to India only in three years time now we are left with two years only in a span of five years, as I want to avail this opportunity of permanent residency but on the other hand we are doing good in India also.

Inspite of doing good in India, we are frustrated with the political and other systems of Govt as well as quality of life.

With the help of this forum, I request all dear members to suggest if we should avail the chance and return to Canada and complete our PR conditions keeping in view risk of current recessions and other global economic factors as I am running succesful travel business in India and not sure about its prospects in Canada especially Brampton, Mississauga or Toronto.

Why did you want to Immigrate into Canada?
What efforts did you make prior to arrival?
What did you find while you were here?
Did you enjoy your stay here?

If the answers to these questions are positive, then read on.... If so, then you will make your return a success, now that you know how to go about it. I will provide you with a little insight into the industry that you are in and prospering very well. Now that you have one branch running, get down here and go about it successfully and integrate well here and in India. Here is a link to the industry. The same in which you are finding yourself doing well there. Now, get your family involved into it and move on smartly and do better than before.

Did you loose the opportunity of migrating? NO, you have not grasped it and you for one will need some great ideas to develop your business here and may be some help in establishing once more. Can you get to do it again. YES, you have to be motivated to do better. The initial stay should have given you some idea if you had explored into the field. I cannot make a comment nor pass a judgment on this subject matter with out your input into it.

Frustrations are abound in this life of ours. We should have the ability to change things for ourselves. Then we can move in life and fulfill our dreams to make this world a better place. Some times moving away from it for a little while may give you some ideas. Moving to a place well organized might make you better and provide you with Super Ideas and this might start a movement and improve things all around for all of us. If we have to make a mark in life, we have to pull up our socks and do things for ourselves first and then move about fixing the problems in this world. There are a lot of Indian leaders who have inspired a whole multitude of world citizens, who in turn have gone on to do better for their part and in their country of residence. May be you will find a way. See if you can do it.

You can get ideas from this forum. You will have to take those ideas and see what will work and what won't. Take some good ones and see if you can make them work. Return back and meet with people who are successful here and see if you can link up with them and be a part of the group and find your special place. Also see how you can go about finding the problems in the industry and improve to make it a highly successful venture. There are opportunities for you to do it.

How to go about it? You have to meet some people first and find the avenues, learn the ropes, like you have done there. Then go about it like what you have done there.

Success comes to those who work hard. You can do it.

So, start on the right foot this time. Have you lost the opportunity or you did not get to use it? Only you know why you went back.

The ideas that made it work there should make it work here too. But this time it is a little easier for you. Because you now know how.

Freddie.

Many thanks Mr. Freddy for your valuable suggestions and lot of motivation.

Last time when I was in Canada, I stayed in Mississauga and visited few travel agencies owned by our people and that time no body encouraged me to start the venture here because of low demand and neck to neck competition and above all involvement of fixed expenses of renting a office and running it.

As if we do not get response then wastage of lot of money which we can not afford to.

Now after going through your detailed reply, I think I must give it a try once again and believe that I will surely find motivational people like you who helps selflessly people like me.

Please also suggest should I go for condo or house initially on rent and which area, and how much money is involved in furnishing them as we will be requiring atleast 2 to 3 bedroom house and we will also be cost consious as well in the starting.

A few years ago when people were interested in getting into travel and ticketing business, the intended connections were only available at a few locations selected by the systems supplier. Also here in Ontario, the travel agents had to join the TICO groups for the protection of the travelers. That is expensive but it is worth it. Lot of travelers have been protected by this system and I am happy about it.

Even today, to get into a decent location to do business the initial cost is prohibitive and not knowing how much it is, I would suggest that you contact some one in the group who is doing well and get to know the ropes before you go head over heels and find later it was not that brave a move. So find some one who will help you from where you are, before you land here.

When you know that you are going to be moving after an year or so, initially, just get some items that are functional and will get you going for the duration that you think that you will need such items initially, just to settle down. It could be as long as two years. Any thing you pick up here will give you that much service, otherwise people will not buy them. You have to plan your settling down step at a time with success attached at each level of the move. Also take care of the unexpected costs that might knock down the house of cards one builds. Be prepared. This time you can open the guard a little bit and take a few chances, but be calculating at every step of the move. Consult some one and also get a confirmation. I am basing all of this with the knowledge you have gained in your initial stay of FIFTY days here. See how the next fifty days will do to your plans.

Bare necessities will cost you a thousand, if you splurge, then, twice that. But moving becomes painful so avoid bulky items, unless you can drive or have a friend here who can do some helping with the move. Forget those scandalous moves who have been skinning the cats. If you know how to drive here, call the man power and get two guys for eight hours and rent a small truck for eight hours and do it yourself. Cost $250. The swindlers will take you for ten times that.

Not knowing the size of the family, just pick any apartment in a good area that has some features that you will need, just to enter into. Two or three BR depending upon the size of the family. If perchance it happens to be close to the work place, it is a bonus. Cost of a rental apartment, currently will be just $1200/m +/-.....

A two months or so before the lease is getting over, if you are leasing, give notice to the landlord. Find a better place, either buy or rent, a Condo or a Town House, a semidetached one or a bungalow, closer ,to the location where you might set up your business and settle down comfortably and then go for all of the thrills and frills in furnishing after that. Until such time, put every purchase on hold and live with bare necessities. Of course, if you can skip one such step in your life and start at a higher level, then you are a better man than I guessed, Mr. McGee.

What can I say......

Freddie.

Hi ftfl,

I have applied for Citizenship in Mar 10 and my PR card is expiring in Sep 10. I was wondering if its a good idea to renew the PR card? Does it matter to hav etwo files running at CIC or will it slow down the process?

Thanks for your feedback!

What I gather as information from websites is: That they are taking an Year or so to process and it takes that long for the swearing in ceremony. So, if I were you I will have a valid PR card to carry on person.

Yes, you can apply and have a PR Card Renewal running side by side with the Citizenship Papers. You should get PR card in about 65 days or there about, apply for it thirty days before the expiry. If you feel you will be making trips in between and you got to have the validity for travels, then go the EXPRESS Route. It is slightly expensive, but you get it within ten days. When they call you, go to their offices and exchange it for the new one.

Freddie.
