It all depends upon the skills you have and the 'know how' you have in this trade or business. You got to be really Good and should also know the language to speak and gain the confidence of the customers.
For a VERY Small kiosk, say, the rent is $600.00 (Which you can't get one) you will have overhead expenses, an additional sum, which is: Parking lot fees, external lighting fees, city taxes/+Business tax, then your own lighting and heating etc.,. It could be a large sum. May equal another 600 or more. Check and see what they might be. Talk to someone who is in such a business.
When you open up a business they will provide you with a GST* exemption certificate, which means you don't have to pay the GST if you give them this number when you buy from a BIG Company. BUT when you sell you collect the GST and Pay the sum collected to the Canada Revenue Agency. If by mistake you paid when you bought some things, then, you can keep exactly the same amount you paid and the extra money you hand over as GST. This is remitted as GST collected to the CRA. If your business is less than $30,000.00 then you don't have to report. So, you decide before you start what you want to do and estimate what the total income will be. All these days the businesses kept the GST collected upto a total income of $30,000.00 From now on in this game they have tightened the screws.
You can bring in anything into this country as long as you pay the duty and taxes. When you pay any duty and taxes, you can keep the gains and pay the lowest scale of Income taxes, if it is an Incorporated company. If it is just a named company, then you pay taxes based upon individual taxes, after claiming relief for your expenses. So do some checking up through an accountant also. He will be the best man to give you all of the information on accounting and the taxes.
You will need SIX partners with similar capitals to get you started here in Canada. Do you have Five more friends who want to do business like you. If you do, then, find out what kind of business is the one for them and if they would like to join you in this or get into some ting different? Can you guarantee their capital and some profits also and you make a decent living with this money?
I think you need to do a lot of research and find out what it is that you want to start with and where you go from here. You have ideas and it has to take shape and you will have to get a lot of information and some one to do the number crunching to get you started. So find out things before you blow away all of your capital. Do some calling and do a lot of walking too before you jump into it.
Until such time look for survival jobs.
Freddie.
*HST when this kicks in, very small businesses will close for good.
