I think its a good idea in TO...however, I dont know about the competition in TO. A lot obviously depends on your access to startup funds. Maybe its prudent to come here and do market research for yourself...for atleast 3-6 months?
My wife is into imports(readymade wovens/knits) from India. We have been recently considering adding retail into the mix within a few months ourselves...so, I guess, even tho I am in Montreal, and we are not dealing with Desi Garments, maybe we could share info on retail startup.

You say that you want to look for a small business while searching for a good job. Don't you think it should be the other way round - take up a job while looking for a good business to run and establish.
What happens once you have started your business, put in money and time, and it has just started giving some results, and then you get a good job. Wont you be at crossroads wondering whether to leave the established and now starting to pay off business or to let go of your professional career?

The IT hardware/support one I can comment on. Extremely competitive, to be quite honest, besides there are many desis doing this. The catch is that you can get desi clientele from your contacts eventually, but us being desis, most will expect free fixes once you build a certain kind of rapport
.And Chandresh, very good point indeed. Just about everyone I know does the business searching part while having a job that sustains themselves. Unless of course you have enough "moolah" to ignore the norm.

Hi,
Thks FYR. My problem is that my main line of profession is exports - imports, international sales. That is the area I wish to continue my career. The IT business is out of my hobby and wish to use as a make shift arrangement. I can really worth quite a bit in my main profession and I need not go in for my own business in that. However what I understand from various inputs on the CHARCHA that it is not easy to get your worth in the start in your own line in the job scene in Canada. From my past exp I find it is faster to start earning in troubleshooting snd repair but you can not get the worth out of it. .....Sab free advice mangta hai...
For these reasons I thought to know more about setup of this business while searching for a suitable position in the export department of a Canadian company.
