Applied workpermit extension for longer duration than the passport validity

Hello,
My husband has applied for workpermit extension in June 2010 for a span of 18 months .

But his Indian passport is getting expired by Aug 2011.

Will there be any problem with the application ?

Would the workpermit be processed or not ?

It will take you a good four months to get the extension of the work permit.

Ask the Indian High Commission a year in advance if they will renew and issue to you a NEW Passport with a TEN Year validity, if they say yes, then you will get a 18 month Extension with your submission to the CIC. Other wise the duration will not exceed the validity of the Indian Passport.

This is same what I experience when I was applying for my Work Permit extension.

1. Work Permit will not be extended beyond the expiry date of your passport.
2. Based on my discussions with CGI Toronto, if your Indian passport is issued in India (not already renewed in Canada) then you can apply for passport renewal not before 6 month from the expiry date.

Rules might have changed now. Call CGI to check
