Please try and get an employment letter, with continued employment at that place, first. If you cannot obtain one with the current one, then, try to get from a similar employer or from anyone. You have time to do that. But these are difficult times and might call for different procedures.
Based on that ask for an extension of your stay here in Canada. As long as the dollars earned are same or more, you should do well. Alternately enroll into a good course of studies that has immediate employment and see where it will take you. You may have to go back and seek some vocational guidance from the last place of study. Also try Seneca International student support.

Remember that currently it takes about 24 months to get PR through Buffalo, and hence they might not respond back favourably.
Good Luck.
Freddie.

Hey Freddie,
Thanks for the reply. Your reply arises one question for me. Do I have to get LMO or some kind of approval from HRDC canada? Because I can get the job letter from my employer thats not a problem its just how to extend my work permit. Also if I get enrolled into some college then I have to take International study permit again and I wont be able to take Post graduation work permit after that.
Another thing is that I came to know that my Money Order for PR application has not been cashed yet although they received it in August 08.
Regards,
Arun.

Most of the employers have a HR section (Department). If you got a work permit the first time, you will have a little bit of detail in that which the HR will be able to follow up and find things for you. These employers also have a blanket LMO's if they have been seeking for people with your qualifications and did not find any here in this neck of the woods. They will be the best people to tell you all about it.
An continued employment at the same location will make it easier for you to get the extension of the work permit. Talk with them and see if it is true.
They also have a Canadian Experience Class now. Explore that also. I think you have a good chance through that scheme. Keep it in the same thread, please.
Don't worry about the M.O. for now. Concentrate on all of the avenues that will keep you here and gets you going in a job. The main criteria is to stay here and continue to work.

Freddie.
