My mother is in canada come on visiting Visa (June 09-Dec 09)We have applied for her extension in October 09 and have not heard from the Immigration as yet- I have requested that she be allowed to stay with us till May2010 My wife is due this month and thats a reason i have mentioned for the extension When would they inform us about her extension, pls advise.

We had her insurance done for 6months from Mumbai which has expired in December, i need to have her insurance done till May 2010 , pls suggest any insurance co or agents dealing with such insurance

They normally ask you to apply thirty days before.

Almost all of the applications for the extension of a Temporary Visitors' Visa get duly processed within 28 days. There are about 2% that do not make it due to lack of information. I am sure yours is in that category. Hence the delay.

Please contact the call center and verify with them. Good luck.

Since you are very desirous of extending the travel health insurance, see if the original issuing agent will do it from the date it expired. Tell him you missed asking him for an extension. See if he will do it. Also tell him that there has been no claim and no problems till up to the time of your call. If he does, then you will have coverage.

Otherwise call and contact a few of the agents here and see if they can and will help you get it. I am very doubtful about you getting a policy here in Canada. A try is worth it.
