I checked the document you mentioned. As per that (Page 3) there is no process mentioned for TRV. TRV process is mentioned on Page 5 but it is not mentioned how to apply for TRV once your work permit extension got approved?

Please let me know if I am not able to explain my question properly.

I want to know, How to apply for Visa extension along with the work Permit extension?

If you have applied for extension, then you can stay and work. You are considered to be here in CANADA, under a condition, called " On An IMPLIED STATUS". I think this will cost you $150.00.

Visa Extension will cost you another $200.00. For Visa Extension and stamping, after you get this work permit extended, for that stamping, you will have to go across the border into Buffalo for which you will need a US Visa. Then, get the stamping done at the BUFFALO CENTER. OR alternately take a vacation and get it done at one of the Canadian Embassies. No Passports are getting stamped here with in Canada. (As of today, yet)

This morning the announcement on the help line said, As of last, that they have not processed applications upto the "Date of 29th May". This morning they told me that they have done till the date: of June 9th, 2009. By this I get to understand that they are behind by a period of 89 days.

Hope this helps you a little.

Freddie.

Hi

If your WP and TRV and expiring at the same time, then renewal of both are done at the same time.

Below is the extract from the guide. See the key word "Temporary Resident Status"

Also check IMM1249E, on the top there are check boxes you can check more than one box (WP and TRV)

If your current temporary resident status is still valid you can apply for an extension of your stay providing
you apply at least 30 days before the expiry date of your current status. Your original temporary status as a
worker continues under the same conditions until your application is finalized and you have been notified
of the decision.
Note: The validity of your work permit cannot exceed the validity of your passport. Therefore,
you should ensure that your passport will be valid for at least the same amount of time as
your requested extension.
It is not necessary to make a separate application for extension of temporary resident status when you apply
for a work permit. The officer will issue all the necessary documentation with the one application.
Each member of your immediate family (spouse or common-law partner, dependent children) who wishes
to remain longer, study or work in Canada must apply for permission to do so. If you all apply at the same
time for an extension, each person will not have to submit a separate application form. Instead, fill in one
form including your details and those of your immediate family. All appropriate documentation and the
required fee for each person must also be included.

I checked the form - IMM1249E but I am not able to find any option where we need to select for extension of VISA and Work Permit both.

Can you please guide me the page number and section number?

Here is the form in the PDF format and here is a breakdown of the numbers and what it is that they ask you to complete.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM1249E.PDF

#7 asks you about your POE. Which airport, through which you entered FIRST. Or the land crossing.

#8 asks you if you crossed and re-entered through any other location after the first landing. If you have multiple entry visa.

#9 asks you about the Original reason for your visit, Which in your case is the TWP. Please provide them all of the work permit details and the company that you are working for etc., Work Permit you 'EXTEND'

#10 asks you 'I want to renew' You can only 'RENEW' a VISA. To extend a visa the Passport should have a LONG validity, so if needed get it renewed before asking for the extension of your VISA in CANADA for your STAY.

According to their terminology: You Extend a work permit."To make it continuous"
Your VISA expires upon the expiry of the TWP. So they say "RENEW" your visa.

The rest is self explanatory. But if you find the same difficult, Please go to one of the Immigrant Help Centers, close to where you reside and they will walk you through the form. Make sure you make your first attempt at the filling and carry ALL of the available materials for them to see and use them to help you filling the form and paying the fees and getting all of the materials completed as precisely as it calls for.

Hope this helps you a little.

Good Luck.

Freddie.

Hi Ankj

See extract from the guide. Go to page 12, See section "I AM APPLYING FOR"

Extract of the section is included below..

“I am applying for”:
If you require only one service, tick the box that corresponds to the service you are requesting. For example,
tick box “C” if you are applying for a renewal of your work permit. If you require more than one service
and you are using only one application, tick the boxes that correspond to each of the services you require.
For example:, if you are applying for a renewal of your work permit and for a new study permit, tick boxes
“C” and “B” and include the required documentation and fees.

Hi John

I know we can select more than one option here. But in order to apply for VISA extension that option should be available on form - IMM 1249. But only Work Permit extension option is available no the VISA Extension option.
