Was wondering if people actually get called for interviews after applying for jobs posted through the govt website. I have tried applying several times, through the years, but have never heard from them.

I might be wrong, but I don't think they really consider immigrants for these jobs, EOE(equal opportunity) notwithstanding. In most of these places, I have only seen the visible minority who are Canadian born.

However, don't lose heart and keep applying. I am in the same boat. My wife doesn't even get called to the entry level clerical, admin, or customer serv. City/Prov. level jobs, leave aside those professional ones. But, as I said keep applying. Perseverance is the key here, and see what they are asking so that you are well prepared in advance. Don't lose heart.

Perseverance is the key for candaian job search..................

I have couple of desi friends who works in ON Govt.sector..................

It is possible ............... only time and luck

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

For sure, you got to keep trying.

As a matter of fact, there's someone I know who came from India barely 6 mths back and got into an admin job with the govt, having no prior 'Canadian experience'. She just knew someone who was already inside. So just got me wondering, if applying online to these vacancies really worked.

I was called for interview, but didn't get selected.

They encouraged me to keep applying in future.
