Hi,

I'm an Architect with 10 years, currently working in Dubai for past 7 years. I will be soon getting my PR.

I would like to know whether there is a Good Job market for Architects in Canada or there are not much available jobs?

Which place in Canada have good prospects for Architects?

How much remuneration can be expected with my kind of experience?

Thanks
AR

Welcome to Canada.
There is no good job market for Architects in Canada (Hope you are not a software architect) esp. in Toronto. May be Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton may be better than Toronto which looks only for construction labourers.
Salary will be in the range of 25,000 CAD per annum to start with.

Peace

thanks for your feedback.

I'm into building Construction. Why is the pay so low.
Is it because architects with indian education are not considered for a Good pay?

As my field branches into Project Management and coordination as well. Is it better to concentrate on Project management/coordination.
Can UAE experience in the same field help to get a job in Project management/coordination?

How are payments of Project coordinators?

Here there is not much work for co ordination as we know it back home or middle east. there is no person doing just monitoring. they supervisor is also responsible for something and then monitors the team and has strict targets to complete.

If you can get the work done by a team of construction workers here and manage them, then you can get 50 k plus.

there is more demand for architectural technologist (draftsman) than an architect. the architects here are looking for foreign projects. even if you study architecture here, the jobs hardly pay over 45K even after 10 yrs of experience.

If you have a chance to move to IT, do it.

Oh !
I was thinking that I'll come to Canada and study project management, plus will do some part time employment. Currently my experience is more on coordination and management.

Shall I reconsider my decision of going to Canada?

Looks like earning are difficult in Architecture Profession.
What is the tax slab of one's annual earning? What is the minimum earning on which Tax is exempted?

I would second with Golden eye.
Per se only native born people / italians are considered in the construction business. You will not know anything about house construction (a major construction sector) as it is in wood and it requires least education but more learn at work.
Second is the building of multi storied building. Currently due to recession, there is not much buildings coming up like institutions, educational buildings , petroleum refineries etc...Only things that are coming up are condo's where the man power requirement is well supplied at this recession time. this is however only for Toronto.
So take a wise decision. I doubt if project coordinators will ever get more than 40K to start with and 40K will be peanuts compared to the life you enjoy in the middle east where you need not even work hard.
Come to Canada and see if you can survive.
