Hold onto the AC.

Every year Toronto City and Home Depot will take in the old AC and other electrical accessories and give you a $25 coupon for purchases at Home Depot.

Otherwise it will be a headache to sell it. As the AC size and the window sizes have to match, also there too many of AC's available for resale it will be a Himalayan task to sell it and recoup any money.

Eventhough I live in Mississauga I went to the Sherway garden Home Depot and gave a Toronto zip code and gave my AC to them.

The price of a new AC is so dead cheap it will be a headache to find a buyer and sell it at a good price.

The newer models in India are much quieter and compact in size.

After all your expense of sending it, the AC may not actually work in India.

$700 AC? Is it the portable one?
The most expensive I ever bought (in apartment) was 12500 BTU for $200.00 + some change.

Anyways, it is better to sell it on CD classifieds or Craigslist or Kijiji than to ship to India - it may not work there and shipping might be more than than the cost of AC.
