What's the wattage of the A/C?
I recall that there is an upper limit to the wattage of the voltage converters that are available.
There is a light-duty converter and a heavy duty one, but the A/C wattage may be more than the upper limit on the heavy duty one.
These days, A/Cs are getting rather cheap in India and most folks can afford one.
I don't think it is really worthwhile to ship one from here.
Rather, try to sell it off here, take the cash add some more to it (if needed) and buy a new one for your folks in India.

I think that the air quality and the ambient air temperature in India is quite different compared to Canada - the efficiency of AC will be highly limited.
Hiren
The frequency in Canada is 60 Cycles, where as the frequency in India is 50 Cycles. So the a.c. cannot be used in India...
i tried on kijiji but there are sooooo maaaaaannnnyy advtmts there .,.....it gets lost easily....
the amt of time it takes to take pics and then upload pics...and advtmt and it is lost in there in few days...i did not see much result there...on kijiji....
thanks for inputs ...
AC in Canada are not designed for high ambient temperature. They are mostly rated at ambient 35 deg C... so if you sending this some where in Indian where ambient temperature is more than 35 deg C, the AC will de-rate. The AC will operate at 50 Hz but the at lower speed and therefore reduced cooling effect.
So basically it will running at low capacity..
