Hi,

Appreciate if someone better informed could help me out.

I Applied for PR under skilled worker category in 2004 Jan. Got a letter from CHC Delhi office to update my file in May 2010. Did that.

Then I get this letter - dated Aug. 19, 2010 - saying I need to pay RPRF fees, get my medicals done, and send my original passports to back to the Embassy by Oct 2, 2010.

I finished my medicals on Sept 4, and the clinic confirmed that the reports are clear and have indeed reached the CHC Delhi.

All the formalities are done - but I had a few questions before I ship off the documents.

QUERIES:

1 - Is there going to be a visa interview now? (They have asked for all our original passports.). If yes, can I request it be done in Mumbai and not Delhi?

2 - How long before they take a final decision to grant me a visa? (I'm a bit jittery about leaving the passports with them for an unspecified period of time!)

3 - Can I call a call centre or something to know the status of my case once I have sent the documents?

regards,

KR
Mumbai.

1. You never know, sometimes they do take interviews but in your case it seems to be unlikely. Interviews are done only at Consulate.
2. You have no choice but have to leave the passport with them. sooner you will send it sooner are brighter your chances of getting it back fast.
3. You can do that but I do not think you will get anything out of it.

hi all,

I applied for PR under FSW category in 2004 Jan. Got a letter from CHC Delhi office to update my file in May 2010.

In Aug, they asked for medicals, original passports and along with it is a small form -- Canadian Immigration Integration Project (CIIP) -- it asks for my resume asks where I wish to land and my address in the city.

Trouble is, I gave the reference of a friend who lived in Toronto till 2007, but now has moved to Calgary.

1. Shall I persist with Toronto or mention Calgary in th CIIP form? And what should I do henceforth - shall I contact the CHC Delhi office to say i wish to land in Calgary, or is it not worth the effort?

(The forms asking my medicals say a final decision will be made soon!)

2. If I can still change the landing place to Calgary from Toronto, do i need to resend all my forms all over again? (I'd be glad if someone could identify which forms I need to send again, thanks)

please help! (I'm in over my head here.)

KR, Mumbai

Hi Karmic.rider,

I don't think you have a reason to worry or think about it too much , you are almost through and need to just wait for the PR visa. As for your questions -

CIIP is a project to integrate new immigrants into Canadian society / workforce. It's pilot is being run in India, China and I think Korea too. Doesn't matter if your friend stays in Toronto or Calgary, just mail CIIP once you get your date to attend their program in Mumbai that you wish to settle initially or forever in Toronto / Calgary.
Checkout their website for all the details. They are quick in responding too.

1. You need to not update CHC for the change in the location. I put Vancouver in my intended city to settle but ended up landing in Toronto. Bottom line is it doesn't matter as long as you aren't landing in Quebec.

2. Answered in (1) above.

Good Luck!! :)
