PR file in New York , done medicals from India. What will be the next step

I applied PR when I was in Canada on a work permit and moved back to India.

Now, I got medicals from New York office and a letter stating my RPR fees is outstanding.

All the communications till now have been sent to Canadian address despite giving Indian address as mailing address in my PR application.

I have done my medical from India and made arrangements to pay my RPR fees in CAD.

Now My question is,

What will be the next step, if I got request to send passports for visa stamping from New York.

Should I change my mailing address to India now? Will it delay the processing time or would there be any difficulty if I didn't change mailing address?

Appreciate your valuable suggestions.

wait for few months - 5 to 6 months to get your passport request after you have completed medicals. Note passports can not be sent through courier etc from India to US/Canada. It can only be sent between US/Canada. There are 2 options

1) If you are in India, once you receive passport request, personally go to New York and get your PR visa stamped

2) If you are back in canada, you have option of sending the passport by post

Thanks for the reply.

1. If I change the address to Indian, will it delay my processing time ( As per new immigration process ie applied after 14 Feb 2008).

If the above two options doesn't work out, do I have any other option.

If the correspondence is going to Canada and some one is forwarding it to you, wait till they ask for the Passport for stamping. Most of the Couriers will carry any thing to USA and you send your Passport for stamping to New York and in that you include a prepaid return way bill and they will use the same to send the Passports back to you in India. I have heard of cases here who have done that.

And if you can travel to USA then get it stamped and cross the border and you are in.

So now you find that you have a choice. So, stay put in India.

Now the next question do you have a VALID visa for Canada? Also do you have a Visa for the States? You know the answer. If you have the VISAs for both the countries, then .......you are plain.......

If I can apply then when should I apply. Before or after passport request for immigration Visa?

In my opinion, you are still a prospective Immigrant waiting for his Passport request. So, complete the formalities first. That does not stop you from preparing for the family's Visa application. Get the forms and all of the required materials ready and brief them as to what to expect in their grilling in case they ask questions wen you are away. Prepare them well. Then after you get your COPR, file their Visa application for them. You do get an year or so from your date of medical to get into Canada. (So, you have time to get yourselves ready for the move.)

If you have not included your new family up to now, then it is time that you made them (CHC in NY) aware of the changes and tell them that your wife and family also need to be added to the present application. If they write to you, it will say that you will have to sponsor them from Canada. But do tell them that there is a change now. THIS will delay your processing, because of the family's medical etc.,

While you were on your Work Permit, this chance was there, for them to visit and stay. Current situation is completely different. If after letting them know about the family, see what they say about the procedures that you need to follow.

So, wait till you get in first, and also for their response, that is my suggestion
