Hello All,
I applied for the renewal of my PR Card in July end and the card expired in August end. Now I have to travel to India in October and don't have a PR Card. Could you please suggest me what to do to travel in this case. What would I need to carry with me to be able to travel?
Thanks,
Dips

Just carry your expired PR card and all your original COPR documents.
In India, apply for a TD and explain the situation.
I think you will get it easily.
Also, there is a chance you might get the new PR card before your departure, esp. if it's later part of Oct.
It takes approx. 3 months.
Quote:Yes, you can.

Do I need to apply at New Delhi?
Quote:Should be pretty fast, just the mailing in and return time. So say a couple of weeks.
How long does it take to get the travel document?
Quote:No, as long as residency is being met, it shouldn't matter.
would it make a difference that my PR has already expired?
Quote:Yes, if at the time of application PR Card has already expired then it needs to be sent with the application.
CIC agent suggested me to apply again with URGENT written on the envelope. Do I have to send my PR card with the application as it has expired?

If your travel is in the second half of October(after 15th ) and if at the time of applying, you did meet the residency obligation to maintain your permanent residence, I would suggest the following:
1. Photocopy your air-ticket and payment receipt and fax it to CIC at (514) 496 8670. Include the following details:
• surname and given name
• client ID number (an eight digit number , next to your photograph
on the PR Card)
• date of birth
• home address
• telephone number
• email address (if applicable)
• date you mailed your application (if applicable, include the tracking
number)
Hold on your expired PR Card for now. CIC should mail the renewed PRC within 3 -4 weeks to the local CIC office where you have to go personally to collect your renewed PRC and hand back the expired PRC.
Best wishes
