Hi,
I am krishnan, me and my wife got PR - nov 2001, from nov 2001 to aug 2005 we lived in Toronto( with 29 days break - vacation to india), we came back to india 2nd aug 2005, in the mean time we were blessed with son . Our PR card expired on feb 2008. Now I got a good Offer , I already planned to go back , applied for Travel document got the same . My plan is I will go first then my family follows .

I applied Travel document in abudhabi( As I am now working ) , as per that validity 19th may 2008 to 15th July 2008, I am planning to travel back to canada on 1st week of july ( after that my residency oblication falls below 730 days- 5 year period ). My question is after I get back to canada 1st week of july , I will apply for my renewal of PR card, it seems it will take 60 days to receive the new PR card, but as per my travel document expiry 15th July 2008, what to do in this situation to stay in canada beyond 15th july 2008.

My wife along with my son will join latter, Surely I need to apply for sponsorship for my son- he does not have PR. What about my wife ( Her PR card got expired feb 2008 and she will not full fill her residency Oblication of 730days / 5 year period ), do I need to apply for her sponsorship along with my son's application ???. Now my wife can not travel with me as my son did not get through the TRV ( 3 times rejected on the eground because of praents are PR ).

Can any one help me with best answers for the above.

Thanks,
Krishnan.

Hi,

You have the done the best that you can for the present. You have your Travel document to Come into Canada. Once you land here, you can immediately apply for your PR card and the other cards or renew the same in due course. It takes time to accomplish all of this and you are not leaving for Canada on the 15th of May and you will be leaving in the first week of July. The delays that you have created are your own. Since you are not here, you have lost the valuable time.

After the PR application and UNTIL the receipt of the PR Card, in due course, you stay put within the four walls of Canada. Please DO NOT travel outside of Canada till the receipt of this valuable CARD. Your status is still good here as they have given you the time to do all of this, which you could not avail and use, due to the circumstances that you are in. You make sure you keep a record of all of this, because they might ask you to account when you go for your Citizenship. (Some times it is forgotten) So do it while it is fresh in your mind.

Once you get all of this settled and also in your NEW job, go to the nearest Immigrant Help Center and do all of the required items to sponsor your wife and the son into Canada. http://www.canadiandesi.com/read.php?TID=20059 . If you can't make it during their working hours, please consult them.

A Canadian Citizen can sponsor their dependents from outside of the country. For you to sponsor your son, you have to be here in Canada to do it. There is no problem for you, since you know how to do it and you have done it three times already.

Good Luck.

Freddie.

Hi Freddie,
Thanks for your reply.
I just have the following question.

About my travel document It is issued from Abudhabi. I would like to travel to canada from India. Is this o.k or will it create any problem due to my Travel document issued from Abudhabi. Let me know .

Can you please elobrate your following :

After the PR application and UNTIL the receipt of the PR Card, in due course, you stay put within the four walls of Canada. Please DO NOT travel outside of Canada till the receipt of this valuable CARD. Your status is still good here as they have given you the time to do all of this, which you could not avail and use, due to the circumstances that you are in. I agree I am only travelling in 1st week of July due to the reason that I have to get relieved from present job. My question is eventhough my travel document is expiring on 15th July 2008, I can be in canada ( I do not want to go out because I am going to join canadian company ) without applying for any visa?.

Could you please answer for the above.

thanks,
krishnan.

It is nice to know before hand what you will need in the future. One such document is a Police clearance. While you are there, try and obtain one from the local police for your future needs. Do all of these before you uproot yourself out of that location in Abu Dhabi.

Yes the CITIZENSHIP department will ask you for a lot of details and it is wise to keep track of all of the events in the form of a Diary and have the same in a very safe place with time and dates and numbers if they have to know.

Yes , affirmative. All I said is STAY PUT till you get your PR card. Do your travel plans after the receipt. You are a landed immigrant and you do not need a VISA. What you have as papers to get in will provide you with a temporary resident paper at the time of entry at the Port of Entry. Use that to get your PR CARD.

Does that clear your mind?

Freddie.

I also wants to hear your answers for the following from you .

1. About my travel document It is issued from Abudhabi. I would like to travel to canada from India. Is this o.k or will it create any problem due to my Travel document issued from Abudhabi. Let me know .

Your reply says

2. I will use temporary resident paper to apply for my PR card renewal , Can I use the same temporary resident paper to apply for my Son and wife's Sponsorship application or do I need to wait for my new PR card .

Your answers for the above will greatly appriciated.

Hi Krishnan 009

The validity of the travel document is for the entry into Canada. The dates are given on it. They do not specify the route that you take. So, just to cover your trip, please make a one way reservation from AbuDhabi via India to a Canadian port as a final destination with a break for the few days duration in India, all on ONE ticket. That simplifies the matter. Also answers your doubts and clears any apprehension that you may have. Make sure that you are within the Canadian Borders A DAY before the expiry date.

As soon as you land here, you do the application for them, your wife and your son too. They all will get through in due course. You establish yourself here first, sooner the better. Please contact the Immigrant Help Center here in Burnhamthorpe road, in Toronto or contact them over the phone and they will help you obtain all of the Cards and will provide you with the correct procedures and will help you fill in the applications too. They will also guide you with Health Card (OHIP) if you are landing here in Ontario, show you the way to obtain the Driver's license, and answer any of the other questions and doubts that you have with all of the materials and details too.

The papers that you obtain at the landing are the 'interim documents' and they are IMM 1000 or IMM 5292. They are permanent resident documents and please keep them safe and make copies for your files.

Some of these process will take its own time, so please ask the CIC call center after you land here.

Safe landing,

Freddie.

The posting of the mail takes a very long time and hangs up the process. A second click posts the response a second time. Hence it is deleted.

Freddie.
