Hi all, i am coming to vancouver in feb 2011 on student visa. I will be having student visa of an aviation school. I need to work in addition to my avbl funds as my course is very costly. Can anyone please help me that can i do job over my student visa? is it safe? what types of jobs i can do? what all max pay i can get? can i get a cab driver job for my living? Please let me know all the details. Thanks in advance.
Legally you can't work in Canada on study permit. After completing first term, you can apply for off campus work permit to work 20 hrs per week and fulltime during vacation .... ( this works well only of you are attending a public college).
Some students do work illegally on cash at gas stations, desi stores, restaurents etc., If one works legally on work permit, guess the minimum wage in vancouver is $8 per hour (the lowest in the country) and may be revised soon. If some one working illegally, the wage depends upon understanding between the parties.
