My feeling since we came to Canada was overwhelming. Started a fresh life learned a new life style ,education and new experience . Fed up of getting sweet replies - no CDN experience.Culturally acceptable was challenge for us , though lived in Bombay and thought will be same here too.But when you come across people and learn new techniques of life , being tought to respond the telephone though this rule never applies to them.We are still trying top keep all the Indian values and becoming more flexible accepting Cdn culture. Seen changes in Kids - they start making fun on your language/accent even a small KG kids. again Love to see You tube videos , changed my thought process.oh forgot main - FINANCE

No, I mean what I said before. It means a stereotypical statement or catch all statement.

It's sort of an industry term where, for example, when you use a blanket PO, you are not issuing a PO for every order, instead, one PO covers all orders into infinite time. Same here, kind of generalize things.

Anyway, in this case, it just sounded humorous the way Loser threw out his comment.

Welcome to Canada. In case you are new to Canada, would be interesting to see how your thoughts/viewpoints will change in say, next 10 years. The Indian values that you cherish so much will become outdated even in India:) . Managing change is always difficult.

Do not want to rub salt on your wounds, but Bombayites are normally considered snobby, and I kind of get this sadistic joy to see them in same boat as other desis. :p

But on a serious note, try to "think outside the silos" and try to get the perspectives of different cultures rather than ghettoising yourself. See if you can develop interest in Canadian politics or sports or any other sphere and assimilation won't be that tough. Try if you can do without "desi" channels on your TV and watch CBC/CTV/CityTV.

Don't worry about accent. Nobody cares about your accent until you can get your message through. It is a part of your personality.
