Hello,
Can someone please let me know if there are any opportunities in canada for people from Banking & Finance background.
Currently my cousin is working for JP Morgan in Bombay. She is a TL and her husband is Vice President. They are very keen in moving to Canada, but did not get a very positive response from the local immigration expert. They said the 'Cap' is over for now in this line.
If someone could help me figure out a way for them to apply for immigration.
Many Thanks
The fastest way may be an intra-company transfer, initially on a work permit.
Once they are here and spend a couple of years on WP, then apply for PR based on the confirmed job by JPM.
PR immigration should be a rather smooth process in this case.
Of course, this requires support from their company i.e. JPM.
This seems the easiest and fastest route.

Opportunities ( jobs) and Immigration. Both are different things.
Anyway ... opportunities in finance, banking and insurance sector are good.
Currently the quota is over for the year 2010-2011. New quota opens-up soon ( May 2011). If they are sure about making a BIG change in their lives, they can organize all the necessary documents ready (including taking IELTS) by May to file their application.
Suggestion by practickm is good and safe. But not easy.
Your cousin may be able to get a TL role here in Canada. Not sure about her husband. Being a VP at JPM, If he doen't get a company transfer, Starting from scratch may be a uphill task.
Students from top canadian universities who doesn't make into big4 consulting firms will opt for big 4 in Asia. Since they had canadian education and Asian exp from big 4, they are able to come back and join similar roles here.
By the way.. anyone knows pay for those senior mgt roles in India? My wild guess was around 50 lakh pa incl benefits.
I will not advice to come to canada. As someone mentioned her husband will have to struggle to get VP. I worked in canadian banks I know them inside and outside. And salary is also same if you convert to Indian salary. I know JPMorgan pay good salary, you wont get in canada, until or unless you hav usa/canada MBA degree.
Pokiri, you are right but 50L does not include bonus, I got similar from some other bank.
Even he get the same salary but he wont get same status, I worked in USA too found canada a more racist country even claim to be pro immigrant.
Ultimately its your decision.

I have been in Canada since 16 months. I am working in Capital market. JPM is well known palyer in Capital Market.
I have seen my 3 friends are new comers and they are able got job in bank within 2-3 months of their arrival. Even i got the job within 3 months.
Banking Industry in Canada is very strong. There are numerous opportunities in Banking and Capital market in Toronto. Newcomers to Canada easily get package around 50K if they have 4-5 years Banking and Capital market Experience.
If you have a skill that they need go fo it.
TL will get easily get job around in any of the bank in Toronto. VP will also get the job but not at VP level. He might get Senior Manager role.
