I would suggest not to do the medicals before the interview date is scheduled.

I got my interview letter in March 2003 for the interview scheduled in May 2003. So I did the medicals in April 2003. They sent the PP request in end of Jan 2004 because of the delay in the background checks and got the PPs back with error and got it corrected by the end of Feb 2004. So I had only 45 days to land. We had to hurry up and landed in March 2004.

So it is better to do the medicals just before the interview.

Can I ask you where you put in your application for processing??? But on the other hand you have 12 months validity for medicals why wait ?? If they have your medicals when you go for Interview there is a possibility that they can issue the visa the same day. I am talking about visa office in Detriot, this has happened to couple of my friends, if they have all the details they can issue the visa right then and there. Thats y?? this is my suggestion, any comments pls

There is no possibilty to issue visa at the same as far as what I have heard from,

Reasons for Not taking the medicals,
In my case
1) I got only a letter that my file will be transfered to Detroit, Don't know how long I have to wait for that to happy



2) Once my file is transfered it will be kept in a Queue , as files in queue awaited for interview

As of today there are more than 500 people waiting for interview date and that is Before April 02


3) Finally your File will moved and you will get the interview date,
and it may take


For all the above things to happen it should be in time frame of 6 - 8 months,


Once the interview is sucessful , then you background check starts and it can take any time 2 -10 months on average. So there is no way you get the visa on spot,

Which finally gives the conclusion , best way is to wait and once you got the date of interview schedule medicals , just 2 moths before the date of interview

I am not aware of such long que any how, the second concern is why Background Clearence ???? They ask you to go for Finger printing and Police Clearence. Which you should have done by now. I have a friend who got his Visa stamped the same day when he went for interview, and that too he had applied from India he got his visa last May. and I have also heard from a friend where some one got his visa on the same day. I live in Canada on Temporary Status, can any 1 advise on Visit visa to US?? I know its tough but pls through some lite pls.

I agee with xxx. It is better to do the medicals after the schedule of interview. CIC also requests you to do the same.

I have heard people who got their visas stamped on the same day of interview. I think their background checks might have been over by the time of interview.

I heard that some times people are called for Interview for cheking the Quality of Immigration Purpose only,

Their Background checks will be done , but for the rest of US who are called for interview the back ground checks will start after the sucessful completion of Interview,

Even after we submit the finger prints they have their own ways of checking the background . Also the Finger prints do expire in a year or six months ,

this link shows the people waiting for their interiew , and they are in Queue wating to get their interview scheduled,
as of now all the slots are occupied till June 30 , and then these people are going get their numbers,

It looks like Detroit Consulate can accomidate only 120 - 150 members a month,

So on a average we can expect an interivew at the end of Year, if our file is transfered after April02


In short Getting interview sucks for the time we have to wait

Comming to US, You have to get a vistor Visa , I don't know if they will give you a visa if you say it is for immigration purpose,
