Any one has given the new PMP exam (after the exam pattern changed last August) ? Wanting to know their experience and about the difference with the new pattern.

Also, anyone interested for a group study in & around Mississauga area ? Am preparing for the same and intending to clear it in couple of months - let me know accordingly and we can connect on the same...

I passed the PMP in march 2011.. I dont think there was any pattern change when i gave the exam. There was a planned change, a slight in the exam syllabus from August 2011 , which presumably means more to study, i think the addition in content was was related to risk management.

I used the 6th edition PMP Exam prep from Rita Mulcahy
There is a 7th edition out to account for the change in syllabus..

It is hands down the best material. Does a good job preparing u to pass the exam.
To my surprise a couple of her practice questions were asked in the exam..

It took me well over 3 months to absorb the material.. had to read the book 3 times , take notes and a lot of mugging up in the last week leading upto the exam.

It is torturous considering the theoretical content and pressure if u fail u have to pony up 200$ to repeat.. a lot of good people have failed in the first attempt, so dont take it the wrong way..

My suggestion is
1> complete the application process which itself can be long
2> Pay exam fees , u have 1 year to give the exam.
3> Give ur self 3 to 6 months to study Rita book cover to cover and memorize the Input output Tools and techniques from the PMBOK
4> Select a date 1 month in advance with atleast 2 days off before the exam so that u can cram for the exam..
If u feel u are not prepared u can always change the exam date free of cost 48 hrs before exam date.

Not yet attempted , but as per new format, the professional responsibility part, instead of having dedicated questions, is now spread to all the knowledge areas. Thus new ethics related questions will be linked to processes of scope, time, cost, quality, hr, comm, risk and procurement.
In my view , ethics related questions are more to do with common sense, ( easier, do not require much preparation) , now 33% of exam will have such questions, with no material provided surely will test the ethical common sense of a practitioner.

Thnaks for the reply. Could you also highligt the $ course and exam fees, and the institute to gain 35 hours training?

I used skillport which is free from my company.. They have modules u can learn on ur own which are eligible for 35 hrs PMI PDU
Even if u buy their 1 year subscription it could be the cheapest way..~700$
But mind u this approach will take u at least 70 hrs of time to complete courses equivalent to 35 hr pdu.


You can try Hitech institute in downtown, but it will set u back by 2000$
