Hello,

I applied for my parents immigration under family class in 2008, and finally got a letter from CIC in mississauga for step 2. they have requested to fill up IMM0008 form from my partents and i am little confused about it.

1) Since its going to be filled up by my father in New Delhi India, is it common that CIC have asked to send the completed form back to Mississauga (and not to new delhi embassy) ?

2) In the form IM0008 "Dependant" section, do i need to include my name/information (I am canadian citizen living in toronto, canada)? because in the pdf-guide it says "You must list all family members in your application for permanent residence, whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not"

3) I have a sister who is 28+ , and permanenty lives in U.S and will not accompany my parents. do i need to include her information in the same dependant section??

By the way, in CIC language, what is definitition of a dependant??

4) in the background declaration form, its asking for my Parent's parents (aka my grandparents) information. My father doesnot remember his parents exact DOB, as they were both born before India-Pak partition, and there is no Birth Cert.

5) Do we need to state that my grandparents they were born in Pakistan ? or would it still be stated as India coz it was India before partition??

YES

2) In the form IM0008 "Dependant" section, do i need to include my name/information (I am canadian citizen living in toronto, canada)? because in the pdf-guide it says "You must list all family members in your application for permanent residence, whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not"

You are not dependent and DO NOT include.

3) I have a sister who is 28+ , and permanenty lives in U.S and will not accompany my parents. do i need to include her information in the same dependant section??

Do not include her name in IM0008. She is not dependent. However, her name and address will be there in ADDITIONAL FAMILY INFO

4) in the background declaration form, its asking for my Parent's parents (aka my grandparents) information. My father doesnot remember his parents exact DOB, as they were both born before India-Pak partition, and there is no Birth Cert.

Just put their names, birth dates and a village in India you think appropriate. You do not need any birth certificates.

5) Do we need to state that my grandparents they were born in Pakistan ? or would it still be stated as India coz it was India before partition??

Do not make things complicated. Just say India.

Hi,

On the Form 5406, where all the information related to brothers and sisters need to be filled up. Is it really neccessary to fill it up for all brothers and sisters. My Mother has few siblings whose location or D.O.B is not known.

Thanks for your reply.

If you think you may not use that information in future with Canadian government for the purpose of visa related issues, you may ignore.

You need to see the relevance and importance of the info.

For example: Let us assume you have a brother and you have not included that information in your Form 5406 when you filed your PR. After few years if you like to sponsor him for a visit ... you can't say that you have a brother ... since you have not declared earlier. In other-way if your brother applies for a visit visa and mentions in his application that he has a brother in Canada, the visa office will conclude that either you have lied when you filed your PR or your brother is lying.
