Do you think that ICAS and WES will take a 1 year Diploma from Canada and be able to use that 1 year to make the following:
3 year Bachelors from University of Delhi
Plus
1 year Diploma from Canada
Total= 4 years of Bachelors Degree??
Thanks man

ICAS is better in terms of not requiring sealed transcripts unless they feel the need ... they initially rely on self attested copies along with originals for their verification which they return after validation.
They take 60-90 days and I found their process quite smooth .
For TN
A 3 years Indian degree would be shown as equivalent to 3 years bachelor degree in Ontario.
The 1 year diploma will be shown as 1 year post secondary diploma from Ontario.
I think the requirement from a US degree perspective is 4 years post Secondary education (12+4) ... Why should you have a problem with the educational qualification front ? .... 3 years Indian Degree + 1 year diploma should suffice .
Similarly 1st class , 2nd class or 3rd class - I don't think that should be relevant from the point of qualification ... You are still a graduate or Masters as long as you were awarded a degree and attained a pass percentage assuming that that % ties with NA standards.

Fido.
For some categories, the requirement is Baccalaureate Degree which in US is 4 years/ http://www.international.gc.ca/trade-agreements-accords-commerciaux/agr-acc/nafta-alena/temp05-3.aspx?lang=en
WES will provide equivalency to US Bachelor's degree provided following conditions are met:
WES now recognizes Indian 3-year Bachelor?s degrees as equivalent to U.S. Bachelor?s degrees
when the following conditions are met:
? The degrees have been earned in Division I
and
? The awarding institutions have been accredited by India?s National Assessment and
Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a grade of ?A? or better (see explanation following)
From http://www.wes.org/educators/pdf/IndiaPolicyPacket.pdf
ICAS will give equivalency of 3 years college degree (Canada) or Associate degree (US) + one additional year of study for a 3 years Bachelor's degree from India.

Thanks for the link RC .. very informative.
The requirement may be a US Bachelors Degree (which is 4 years) OR EQUIVALENT.
It does not mean that if you have a 3 ( Bachelors) + 2 years ( Masters) , you would fail equivalency for TN ...
We have had a case of a 12+3+2 making it to TN and that his bachelors and masters degree from India ( 3 & 2 years) did not act as a disqualification ..
Read more here (very insightful thread) .... till the last page ..

I find the WES 1st Div requirement absurd ... So some one who has got a higher 2nd class would not qualify as per them ...Ridiculous .. Why go with WES ... go for ICAS ... has the same recognition for TN !!!

Fido.
Fido, if you meet WES' criteria, you get 4 year US bachelor's degree equivalency for a 3 year degree from India. It is not possible with ICAS.
I am not talking about people with Master's.

I see ..That's really interesting (I didn't know this) .... good to know that WES can give a 4 year equivalency for a 3 year degree .... though personally I would still take it with a grain of salt ... since the US authorities may still hold on to the 12+4 year rule .
To my understanding, US rules circulate around the 12 years of secondary education and 4 years of post secondary education which directly qualifies Indian Engineers ..... and not the regular 3 year old graduate ...
Having said that ... if a person has a PG diploma even for an year or even an incomplete Masters of 1 year .... I feel per the 12 + 4 rule , the person may still qualify .
Though I qualified for the WES , I still took the equivalency from ICAS as it was simpler (plus I had 12+3+2) and I was really not sure how to get the sealed transcripts from my Univ back in India ....
But it is good to know the 4 year NA equivalency given by WES for a 3 years course in India ...

Hey Fido,
Are You really sure that ICAS would evaluate 3 Year Bachelors from India as equivalent to 3 Yer Canadian Bachelors? Wanna make sure about this since this is critical.
In my case, I do not have a Masters to compensate the missing 4th year. Please confirm.
Secondly, What do you guys think of other evaluating companies like Spantran or Trustforte who add up your work experience to make it a 4 yr U.S. Bachelors.
I am not sure if U.S. border agency has a criteria what kind of agency to be used. It appears that WES is the harshest then UFT then ICAS. Then the others I mentioned above.
P.S. How do I get the thread updates to email me as soon as a reply is posted.
