hello everybody,
i am writing this mail with regard to a friend of mine who is going to apply for his canadian pr.
my friend has 15 years of full time education upto his bachelors level (which includes a full time 3 yrs bachelors degree). after his bachelors degree he has completed a masters degree course which is a 3 year part time degree course from a recognised university. this part time degree course consisted of 10 hrs of weekly class. (thus implying a total of 3yrs*52weeks*10hrs=1560hrs).
hence the total period of study which my friend has completed is 15 yrs of full time education and 3yrs of part time education.
now the cic website has defined full time equivalent course as follows: "the length of time it would have taken to complete a course of study on full time basis but was actually completed on a part time basis". also a full time course at the masters level has been defined by cic as one where the course duration is of 2 yrs and weekly class is atleast of 15 hrs. (thus implying a total of 2yrs*52weeks*15hrs=1560hrs)
so under the given circumstance is my friend's 3yrs part time masters degree course considered as full time equivalnet masters degree course?
if so does my friend stands to gain full 25 points under the education factor?
thanking all of you in advance
sincerely,
indianman.
