Hi,
Can someone please suggest me a good southindian place in the GTA?
We went to this place, Sarvana Bhavan, for brunch this weekend
The food was so ..so bland...I simply couldnt eat it. Now I understand that they have to cater for all kind of clientele, but the food was simply awful.
I tried everything to get that southindian taste, but even the chutnees were bland The upma and the dosa subji had an oily aftertaste. I don't know how so many Indians were eating there.
Are there any good southindian restaurants in the GTA that really offer authentic southindian food?
Thanks.
was it a buffet? never been to a buffet but have been there couple of weeks ago. the food was okay (atleast not bland).
could be cheap food cheap quality at buffet time.
In the last year or so there has been a explosion of South Indian restaurants in Mississauga.
Very close to Sarvana bhavan is Udupi Madras Care.. good food.. so so service
Another one is Chutney Swamy on W Churchill and Eglinton.. good food
Another very good place on McLaughlin and Derry is Guru Lakshmi totallty awesome food...but is always crowded.
There may be more in brampton but i do not know

The Sarvana Bhavan in Mississauga serves awful food..... Udipi near Novotel has wonderful food.... Good Thali... Good dosa... Good buffet (when they do serve it)...
No other south indian restaurant beats Gurulaxmi in terms of food. They recently moved near hwy 10 and Derry/Steeles?
I did not have a good experience with Guru Laxmi on my maiden visit and I found on this forum that I was not the only one ..
Have been frequenting Udupi Madras Cafe @ Enfield Place ( opp Sq One ) for the past 3 years w/o disappointment ....
Tried and liked Anjappar Chettinad in Brampton .. perhaps the best dosa & sambhar ( spicy as well ) I have had in years .... But since out of radius , visit it less often ...
Have heard of Nilgiris & Chtney Swami ... not visited till now ...

Fido.
My experience of Sarvana Bhavan was most disappointing, food was garbage but many people seem to love it and were enjoying it. And to pay an arm and a leg for South Indian food is a crime.
