I am still not sure if it means changing your hotmail ID?

Assuming you still have your original ID..mine was gone (hacked and then disabled) long time back...

Hiren,

You don't have to change your hotmail ID. Go to www.outlook.com and you can sign in with your hotmail address as before.

You also have the option of changing to an @outlook.com email address where you will still receive all your hotmail email (or from other services with POP). Since the service is relatively new, there is a good chance of configuring a good email address you want still (e.g. firstname.lastname@outlook.com)

Ya, I got but not sure if I will switch back to microsoft now. I prefer gmail much better than hotmail/outlook.

To each his own

Worth checking out though. The skype/FB/SkyDrive integration is sweet and the interface is pretty cool. Check out the gizmodo review

Thanks BL.
I read a lot of good reviews (not so often from MS)..will try it out.
I am just wary of having everything linked to one and everything - it becomes a headache if we have to delink later. Will take it 1 step at a time.
I also read great reviews for Windows 8.

Makes sense, I'm the same way. At this point, I'm just using my hotmail address through the www.outlook.com site, the integration with other services is something I'll decide on later.
