Brampton Hardwood has hardwood at very resonable prices. They will also recommend installers that do not charge a lot..
Installing hardwood is not tough so for floors you can do a DIY.
There are several stores on Dundas and Dixie that sell Hardwood for cheap..
The wider the hardwood the more expensive it is
Oak is more scratch resistant than maple but maple looks better There is bamboo and other exotic types too.. engineered hardwood is also good..
For stairs if you currently have carpet installing hardwood is going to be very expensive...

Hi Chittesh,
Thanks for your reply, Is'nt Maple supposed to be the hardest of all varieties?
What are my options of stairs, I do have carpet on it currently.
While doing a prelimnary inquiry with the dealers, for stairs I got the wild range from $ 100- $ 300 per stair, It is indeed very hard to digest .

One thing that you have to consider while installing hardwood floor is that it is engineered install else when you walk it will make noise. Even when you want to sell that property potential buyer will consider negatively upto certain extent.
I stand corrected... it is the other way round...Maple is more expensive than Oak but looks good..
