I am talking about third party liability insurance NOT Comprehensive insurance ..do you even know what third part liability insurance is ? From your misguided and ignorant post you apparently don't

I have personally done all the above ..so I know what I am talking about , unfortunately you DON'T.

As far as used cars are concerned , you get well maintained and certified used cars over here , which are very good in shape and well maintained ..this isn't India..so very little issues with used cars over here. Don't try to scare the OP with your ignorant drivel.

You are giving advice to help someone understand the true picture or just writing for the sake of writing..

You CANNOT have a third party insurance on a new car (if its on finance)..

You're holding a peda in your hand and enjoying it. Someone far away offered you a gulab jamun, but you have to move for that. Now you're asking the forum, "Will I like the gulab jamun? Should I move and will it be better than the peda I am enjoying right now?"

People who like peda more will reply "No". People who like gulab jamun more will say "Yes". Either way, it is a subjective answer and nobody knows if you will be happier here or there.

My advice is if you're content with your life in India, stay put. The only reason for risking it would be if you're missing something important in your life there. I haven't seen anything like that called out in your posts yet.

You can get a LOC and buy that new car for 15 K or buy it with cash for 15 K and get third party insurance on it, if you want. You can use the LOC for whatever you want , to buy a car or renovate a house..the bank doesn't care as long as you pay the interest on it.

You were saying you can't even get third party insurance for 200/month or get a new car for 250/month ..both are untrue ..2 separate things ..no correlation whatsoever.

I never said that you will or can get third party insurance on a financed car from the dealer ..don't try to link the 2.

Its possible to get a new car for 250/month and its possible to get third party insurance on a car for 200/month ( where the car is new ( non financing ) or used )

Are you trying to just scare the OP or writing just for the sake of writing.

Financing the car from a dealer is not the only way to buy a brand new car , lot of other options available...and when you use these other options you can take just a third party insurance on a brand new car or any other insurance you want..lol

A person with 1lakh salary per month, & you want him to drive a KIA (common its like driving a NANO in India)..
Give or take $1000 per.month. for mobility (all inclusive gas, insurance, maintenance, oil change, etc. long drives for sight seeing across Canada)
REnt depends on your taste of lifestyle -ghetto's like basements are available for even $600/month (which is more like a prison), ideally I would put $1500-$2000 for accommodation.
$200 or more for your Utility (Internet, Mobile, Landline, Cable, etc..)
$500 Grocery
$500 Restaurant bill & Movies & Entertainment (wouldn't you like to give your kids some good childhood memories).

And another $1000 per month saving so it adds upto $12000 just to have some saving & to travel back & forth to India once a year.
There you go - all your $5000 after tax money is gone.. (90k gross will end up a 5k per month)..

& you still can't afford a Maid or a Personal Driver for your car..
Choice is yours..

I have a gut feeling, that you will still reach Canada, & after some years you'll compare India to Canada (so you can justify your decision)

Its all your destiny - so Good Luck..

Appreciate your intention to help the OP, but your statements are misleading.

1. Get LOC - against what as security? Who is going to offer unsecured LOC to someone on work permit?

2. Whether you finance from bank or any lender, as long as the car is not 100% paid up by the buyer, he cannot decide which insurance to have. The 'lender' will stipulate the insurance clause. It is common sense any one lending you $10,000~$15,000 against an asset which can get totally written-off in a split-second collision is not going to risk just third party insurance.

Lender's aside, if you purchase a brand new car for $15,000 - would you be able to live with '3rd party insurance' knowing fully well that any damage to the car unless in a 100% not-at-fault collision is going to come out of your own pocket?

Have you even compared the rate difference between 3rd party insurance and comprehensive insurance for a brand new car? The insurance is not based only on the car value, but on driving history and tons of other variables.

Just food for thought.

I am sorry to pitch in but a Kia Forte is a good car to drive ( here as well ) & so much so for Hyundai Elantra as well ... and most likely a better / comparable car than what the OP drives in India .... and the roads here would definitely give a much better driving experience even on a used vehicle ...

You can choose to buy some thing from Holt Renfrew or Walmart ... Does not mean that the thing from Walmart does not sell or is not good .

2500/- pm is not living in the ghettos but in comfortable well sized well located apartment buildings .... $500/ mo for restaurant bills for a small family is steep in my opinion ... 250 +250 +100 or $600/- can be your car costs including fuel and insurance ....

But are we not digressing from the issue ... What % of people in Canada make 90K ? Perhaps the same who make 1 lac pm in India .... or even lesser ...

90 K is a good offer & I feel the OP does not have many reasons to not come here and try .... most of the immigrants here do not get this much money ... and he stands to lose nothing even if he decides to return after a couple of years ... would perhaps be richer than what he would be in India during that period after all expenses paid !

Not to mention the clean environment and life that millionaires in India cannot enjoy !!

Thansk all ..

Awesome advice . Your advice really helped me alot and clarify lot of doubts(almost all ).

One more thing , now a days earning 1lks/pm is NOT AT ALL big deal in India.

Many people earning this amount and more than this.

Even in Govt sector salaries are comparable to private sector here .
