I briefly checked all the discussion pages in CD and did not find any recent talk on the insurance rates .

My car insurance renewal in next month and I am checking online quotes and calling some of the insurance companies and till now the best rate I got was from Desjardin (~ 300 $ without collision or comprehensive).

Could all the CD members post their own insurance rates/age/years they are licenced. I think we will have some good idea from there .

Also there are some insurance companies who do not go with the brokers , also will be very helpful if someone can list those .

Car Insurance is based on primarily 4 factors - Driver Rating, Vehicle Rating, Rating Territory(postal code) and Class. Now these factors could be different for different persons at different location. Most of the Insurance companies also decide to put favorable rates for the market they want to target - be it based on geographical location or age or experience etc. There is not much of benefit for every body to quote rates here as it will lead to no logical conclusion. In my opinion there could be a few approaches you can take - talk to a broker as they may have a number of companies at their back end, could go on some websites like Insurance hotline.com, Kanetix.com or call the big names yourself. But it is a lot of time and effort and I feel unless you have a good group discount, we all will be paying thru our nose especially if you are in Mississauga and Brampton.
