This is a good thread though it will take several pages to give you a complete picture!
Canada and US share the worlds largest unpatrolled border. The two countries do have a lot in common. But there is a big difference between the two as well.
1. Canadians tend to be a lot more friendly than Americans ( I guess Americans are more wary ) e.g. I was at the parking lot and found the meter didn't accept credit cards. I never carry 'chillar' so I was stumped. A lady walked up to me and said. "If you are short I have the change" . I was amazed! Another time I was asking a person on a cycle for directions, he turned around and guided me to the spot!
2. Canadians may be racist, but their famous 'niceness' prevents them from being blatant about it! Plus the fact that laws exist to protect one from racist remarks!
As far as the job market is concerned, there is a BIG difference between Vancouver and Toronto. Generally salaries seem to be higher in Toronto. But you also have much more extreme weather conditions. The other aspect of working in Toronto is that one is working on a bigger canvas. So career prospects are higher there. Personally I do feel I have stagnated for the last three years here.
Living conditions are good. I think people who tend to compare US with Canada will be disappointed! They are two different countries, different economies and different socio-economic patterns. As Simple bro said, a major part of one's expenses are in rentals. But otherwise I have compared prices between Vancouver & LA and whilst the range of stuff available is more, there is not that big a difference in prices. The downside is that with a 14% tax on everything (except food) the prices do become more than US prices.
You must remember that Canada has a population equal to California! So with less consumers, obviously prices will be higher!
well done .. but this link should be in classified..
& I don't see any relevance of this post (is it just created with a new avatar just to post this link)

Good Research Dhaikin
Hello Dhaikin and Gurram! I just thought of sharing some useful information with the members of this forum. I have no other intention!
The link was related to parceling of the Indian foodstuff like Pickles, Sweets, etc. And actually, I got some food stuff delivered here in Toronto, Canada. I have been living in Canada from the past one year. The food was really good and cheap enough that I decided to share it with the friends here in this forum.
What the f ..
How can any one be such sleazy and naive at the same time on this forum ..
On the one hand you are trying to rake up a popular discussion ...On the other other you are creeping a totally unrelated link to your business in the Post so that unsuspecting people may click on it ......
Do you think people will not find your true intentions ...Naive at best .... Please edit your post and remove the link ...As is people with 1-2 posts are always suspects of trying to promote their business in a clandestine way rather than post it in Classifieds where it should be ...
Please put your link in classifieds where it belongs and don't take others to be dumb !!!

Your earlier post :

So career prospects are higher there. ... (in Toronto )

and the latest one

I got some food stuff delivered here in Toronto,

are contradictory .....
If you wish to promote your business , go to Classifieds .... Don't repeat your self with different avtars .... Don't make yourself and others feel foolish !!

See Fido,
I have my own feelings, which I could express without any one's permission! I need not give any explanation to anyone just like this.
And I think you have totally misunderstood me. I said that "the food stuff got delivered at me" from India, and I paid to that person.
There are few reasons behind posting that link:
1. You won't get the authentic Indian food anywhere outside of India.
2. If it is available also, the cost would be high.
3. A low salaried person like me outside India will always look for authentic Indian food.
So, according to my views, that link would be beneficial though there is no meaning in doing so.
It's up to the members how they feel about me.
