I dont know...
I finally left but was thinking the same thing...it could be very old who knows....

I have seen Expired Items on Shelf even in Canadian Store. But they were quick enough to remove with that 'sorry smile'.

Desi stores don't care (I dont know why though). I noticed exp

Have you been to Desi Restaurant in Naigara - The Guru.

I had been there twice. Food is Good. But customer service sucks big time. First time, I gave them benifit of doubt. Thinking it could be jsut one-off incident. But second time guy literally 'snatched' Roti, when I told him that you brought wrong order. Not only that, when he corrected the order - he didnot put down ... He dropped it (Read Threw). Had a big argument. Sorry did not come Naturally to them - and the worst, his 'manager' comes out with "Excuses". Its busy weekend & crap (Funny - they dont expect themselves to be busy in Naigara).

Nobody has come close to this kind of Service to me Yet. I have never visited that place again. I dont wish to.

Hi all,
With due respect to everyones personal opinions, i'd like to say something....

Been through all the replies to the Customer service of Desis...

Lemme ask jus one thing...How many of You are from india and have lived their life there after having understood the meaning of customer service.???

Please give this a thought....Why should you expect someone to do something which they dont do in their own home country....
I have never seen anyone complaining that indians are pathetic at customer service in india....Go to the shops/stores/hotels/udipi restaus...GO anywhere in india and tell me which place they give so much importance to custoer service...

I agree that a business is not only run by good deals but better run by good customer service...But again...Think about it...Do we as customers say Please/Thank You/Sorry when it comes to us dealing with the Cashier/Waiter.Maid servants...In most of the cases the reply is a clear cut NO...
Then if we cant be good customers , why should we expect excellent or up to the mark customer service from our fellow indians...Talk about it...Did anyone ever bother to be polite in a shop/store/hotel in india with those cheesy words...i guess most of the people dont...They like to be treated like kings if they are in restaurants or stores...but refrain from treating the opposite person with respect for having served them...

Why should you expect things like this..Just Because you are in CANADA and not INDIA..
I havent seen people living in india complaining and posting messages on forums for such issues in india itself....
Please do not forget indians are indians whereever they go...
They have this way of living...no matter how rich..no matter which country...They will never change...
For that matter even you must be doing so many things in your day to day life which is unliked by the Whites,,but you cant help it...it comes to you naturally...

AND YES...Lets understand that you cannot clap with just one hand...
If you bought grocery from a store which is 30 km far,,,then shouldnt you have atleast checked what you put in the shopping cart....Obviously We dont just put things in the Cart without checking it atleast 1 or 2 times....
ATLEAST NOT INDIANS....

So lets be fair...If u buy a thing worth $2 then no one is going to send you that thing in Post for replacement of a bad item sold which was partially the buyer's mistake and mostly the seller's...More so beacuse You are not going to send back the Bad item by Post to prove that it was really bad....
And If you are a businessman...You surely would understand....

Once again...No Hard feelings..All gave their opinions...This is mine...
Thanks,
Beachwaterz.....

You are right. I expect good service in Canada because I am getting good service at other stores. While in India, you don't have choice sometimes. However, I don't know where are you from in India, you should check out customer service in metro cities with exclusive stores in India.

I have good exp in hotel field and I know how white people feel when they come to restaurants so its not only us that we behave like that. If we misbehave then we should be treated like that not in general

I've experienced the same from several chinese businesses also.

Needless to emphasize that "it is the customer service" that brings their business down when a competitor opens a store near by with better service. I've witnessed this many times.

But me or my wife, Do we really stick to standard stores to buy our groceries ? No, we visit either Chinese / Desi Groceries.

Why ? Because I need it inexpensive.

Are you OK to compromise with their poor customer service ? Are yaar $40 savings a week is better than 2 minute customer service.

I think the business owners know the same psychology and hence this customer service. I usually skip Desi / Chinese groceries if I need to buy anything that needs to be consumed raw (Lettuce, Cucumber etc..,), other than that I still continue to punish with this smartness :)

Dunkin Donuts and Coffee time, both are losing business and Subway chain is soon to follow. Why ? Answer is left to you. My only relief from this pain is my restaurant hopping. I rarely visit Desi food place for for few reasons though I am not able avoid completely.

Back in US, there was a Grocery store by name Sungandh in Milpitas whose service was excellent and I never even had a single dispute with them for about 7 years. But such businesses are rare. In San Francisco Bay Area, most of the McDonalds, Subway, DaysInn, Taco Bell etc.., are bought by our bros and the service started smiling badly. I felt really pissed of when a Starbucks was bought over and offered us the worst service.

Well, eventually there is going to be no end for this griping as Asian folks buying business is in steady incline. Mmmm waiting for some miracle..

It may be impossible to demand customer service or recourse if it is a small business owned by Indians. However, there may be recourse if it is a franchise of a major corporation.

One of the Holiday Inns I stayed in western Michigan was franchise owned by an Indian. That bugger overcharged my business credit card by $23. His reason: My reservation was under my co-worker's name !!!

Instead of arguing with that cheat, I called Holiday Inn corporate offices and talked to someone in customer service. Also, I reported the overcharge as a credit card fraud, which of course, Holiday Inn wasn't very pleased with that terminology.

In the next couple days, I had several calls from the "Manager on duty" apologising profusely and the charges were rectified.
