Please dont get me wrong , i dont not intend to make fun of the gujju community in this thread ( i only make fun of bihari's which i m myself ).
After seeing indian communities in many different countries, i am amazed and i stand in admiration of our Gujju brothers. First they migrate in massive numbers, ( just do an online peoplesearch on patels in NY , you will be astonished) and irrespective of their professional training /or lack thereof they have a strong sence of community spirit and build a strong network which keeps supporting each other. This spirit is something dismally lacking among other regional groups, other groups make efforts here and there but nothing compares for what gujjus have done for themselves. Wonder why this is only among Gujjus and not others.
for eg , 90% shops iselin in NJ indian market are gujju owned, similar is the story in other indian communities worldwide.
Maybe some of our gujju members can shed some light on this. It would be interesting to see what everyone has to say .

i guess its coz gujus are primarily business people in North America.....and believe in networking in order to promote their bunsinesses.

IF YOU HAPPEN TO SEE THE MIDDLE EAST YOU
WILL BE AMAZED TO KNOE THE MALLOO(KERALITE OR MALABARI)
NETWORKING.IF GUJJU NETWORK HAS A POSITIVE CONNOTATION THEN
THE MALLOO NETWORKING IS DIFFERENT THAN THAT.
IN MIDDLE EAST THEY SAY GET ONE MALLOO AND HE WILL PUSH OTHER INDIANS OUT WITHIN ONE YEAR TO SWARM THE PLACE WITH MALLOOS.
I think this thread is now taking a nasty turn.

I agree with you guys , in every other part of the the world there is one particular ethnic group which migrates in large numbers.
It will be interesting to get some views on this trend, that why is this trend only in 3/4 indian ethnc groups and not uniform among all regional groups.
We find Gujratis is Europe,USA, Canada, East Africa , South Africa , australia and Russia. Mallus in middleeast and Tamils in singapore and malaysia. Sikh brothers in Canada and some parts of US.
3 years ago time magazine had a cover story titled said "indianization of england is complete" and it was focussed on the achievements of the gujrati community.
I wonder , why dont we see Marthis, Rajasthanis, UP-ites , Biharis,AP-ites, and all other groups migrating out of india in equally large numbers and then get organized just as gujjus hae. They are there but stay in small splintered groups and are not as well organized as our Gujju,Mallu and Sikh brothers.
Maybe there is something to learn here, maybe Canadian desi could become such step to organize and bring all Desis under one unbrella.
Maybe.

PS- as a rule if anyone feels the need to pull punches , we are allowed to pull punches only on our own comunity.
on that note -
imagine if bihari's had migrated to toronto in huge numbers , you would have sattu serving dhabas and bailgadis in the streets of toronto .
