I also find that ICICI is a good bank. Next best is HDFC. Then there are others. Depends which Bank you have the money in India and if there is anyone that is friendly and helpful to you there.

OP,
Be safe.
Rs 55 is not a bad exchange rate. if I were you, I would send through RBC which is possible for me to track.
I have also in the last negotiated with the bank manager and have managed to get Rs 1 extra per $ (when the rate was Rs 46). I heard that managers will do that when the sum is more than $ 10K but you still can give it a try !
