I had a horrible exp opening account with ICICI bank canada.
I opened a chequing and saving account with 2 cheques about a month ago.
It took them 5 days to show the account as open and another 15 days to show one of the cheques in my bank account.
The other cheque has still not shown up. The money for both the cheques has been deducted from my other bank account.
I called up the customer service number they keep talking about my cheque that was credited.
They have put a trace on the cheque and asked me to call them after 2 days..
So the question is what kind of protection do i have.
I am not banking expert.
The point is, you went to ICICI bank Canada as they pay BEST Int rates.
So just ignore customer service & enjoy high int rates.
But if you need better customer service, go to any BMO, RBC, TD etc
but they will noy pay such high rates for deposits & saving/chequing a/c
Decision yours
I can;t believe they lost my cheque. While i was at the bank i saw someone else complaining that his money was not showing up after a week of depositing the chque.
The bank in canada is badly managed, be careful with ur money..
I have had a friend say one of the banks (Not ICICI) in the usa had 3000$ taken out of his account. When he enquired with the bank they accused him of writing a cheque.
Luckily this person had all his records. Turns out the cheque was chased twice by the bank .. Once a year ago when he used it to pay down for his car. and the 2nd time a year later when the dealer re deposited the cheque. Not sure how the dealer retained the cheque...
So such things happen in badly managed banks/branches

I also have a very bad experience with icici bank.Their service at canada is very poor.THey even do not have proper infrastracture like ATM machines & etc whereby one can bank easily
I transfered money from CIBC. The transaction did not showed in ICICI banks account. So I called them. Their CSR told, he could not see such transaction in your account. Therefore, I transfered money again.
After two days, both of the trasaction appeared at same time. I had no funds in CIBC for two transactions. CIBC charged me insufficeint fund fee $40.
I am loosing rather than earning in the ICICI bank.
My other friends have also lot problems but they do ot post it in forums.
