If u search this forum with ICICI bank, you will get a list of replies with customer experiences...there is nothing good about them except interest rates..it dpends upon what service u expect.

For a savings account you normally operate only occassionally and may not need the service you expect of the chequing account. It is good for money transfers to India etc..

I do have an account there for over 1.5 yrs..but generally bank on the net, havent experienced their 'poor' service so far..:)

All the best,
Hiren

yeah its true there service is no exception then an indian bank. but it comes handfull for sending money to india online. and u can access the bank services with same account no: anywhere in india as well as canada.
they are no 1 bank in India but to be good in canada they really need to work hard and provide good services especially customer friendly.

ICICI Bank and in India are totally different. Firstly they have just 2-3 branches. they allow and do the transfer fast and free from india but getting the money out is a real pain. There is a out limit on withdrawals and whatever money you put in there is struck. Most of the employees of th bank here are BLANK...Please look at another medium for getting the money.

Copied from ICICI Bank's Letter to TK :

March 27, 2006

Dear Valued Customer,

Subject: Important information about your HiSAVE Savings Account

Since launching our HiSAVE Savings Account, we have noted varying levels of service needs from our customers. In order to better serve our customer needs, we are implementing certain changes to the existing HiSAVE Savings Account and concurrently renaming the HiSAVE Savings Account in our branches to ‘Premium Savings Account’ for customers who require in-branch assistance for day-to-day servicing needs.

Effective March 27, 2006, the HiSAVE Savings Account will be offered only on the online channel that is via internet or by phone. HiSAVE Savings Account will no longer be available in our five branches.

We are pleased to confirm to our in-branch customers that they will continue to earn our prevailing interest rate of 3.00% p.a. on the newly renamed ‘Premium Savings Account’.

To our customers exclusively using the online channels, that is conducting business strictly via the internet, phone banking and our Automated Banking Machines, we are pleased to advise that we are increasing our interest rates on both your Canadian and US Dollar HiSAVE Savings Account to 3.50% p.a., effective Monday, March 27, 2006. We are able to increase these rates to our online customers as they do not require physical resources and the infrastructure in our branches. The new rates on HiSAVE Savings Account will apply to customers who have opened their HiSAVE Savings Account with us online or by phone, and do not access our branches for any personal services.

In case you have opened your account online or by phone but feel that you may require personal service in our branches OR in the event you have opened your account in our branches and wish to earn higher interest by switching to internet or telephone banking only, we will gladly assist you in changing your account status. Please call our Customer Contact Centre toll-free at 1-888-ICICI-CA (1-888-424-2422).

We appreciate your business and look forward to serving your banking needs.

End of Copied stuff.
****************************************
Guys!
Good news. ICICI bank is the first bank in Canada to offer 3.5 % interest for normal savings account over the internet. Please use this to full extent.
