I am in the process of moving to Canada for goods. I am working in Saudi Arabia and have recently moved my family, who travelled on exit / re entry visa. Now if they don't come back to Saudi (which most likely they are not going to do) within a specified time for which visa is issued, their visa will automatically cancelled. I shall also be joining them in March'15, but I will leave Saudi on proper exit visa. My question is .... Can my family's move ( going on exit re entry and not on proper exit visa and then not coming back to Saudi) be questioned at the time of citizenship interview !
Why I am asking this is that recently my friend's wife ( they had moved from UAE and his wife also went the way my family did, meaning not on exit visa but on exit / re entry visa) has been denied citizenship for this reason. She has been asked to produce a card from UAE (probably who leave UAE on exit get a card) and she has to re appear for interview now with that card. Now my friend is trying to get this card from UAE.
Please share your experience if anyone's family from Saudi has moved the way mine did.

Looks unbelievable.
UAE does not have Exit-Re-entry visa, as far as I know, and so how would they say to you this?
Also Citizenship to Canada is based on residency and not on your ties to a third country (in this case Saudi).
Please consult a lawyer (citizenship) by paying a fee.

Dear TK, you are right. It might be an open visa on which she left the country and never came back.my point is if she has to go for goods, she or her husband should have left UAE in a proper way by properly resigning from their jobs. In that case your company terminates your visa and your visa gets cancelled the moment you leave the land. He never told me but I guess it could have been the scenario I explained and hence they are asked to provide a proper exit card.
They could be suspecting that the person was not in Canada for the time they are claiming residency because their UAE visa was still valid after landing.

Raj, could be, but still the question is open whether someone who enters canada this way (I mean on an open visa and not on a proper exit) may face issues at the time of citizenship with CIC !
