Bring it from Saudi. It is better. If it break down in Canada, then you can get it at Gerrard street or at some flea market.

Better to buy here. If it does not work you can return it but with stuff you import you cannot.

Hi
I am a TECH.
I would say,, dont bring any equipment's from other country,
if the wattage of equipment is high, u need to buy a converter with high watt capacity and that will be very costly, in the same price u could buy used one from here.
only bring that one which has low watt.

Bring the low power kitchen devices if you already possess them in your country(don't buy now). A 300 watt transformer ordered online and delvered to my home in Toronto cost me CDN $40 six months ago. No, do not buy the transformer in your country; it is too much weight etc

Would it be a good idea to bring them along and use through a transformer , has anyone done do, please share as these are almost new, branded and costly. I also have a sewing machine which is almost new. I mean wouldn't it be a good idea to bring them along instead of disposing them off for just peanuts and purchase the new ones after reaching Canada. Please advise. Tahnks

Let me do some math together with you. May be at that time we both will agree that it is not that good a decision to lug them from there.

A good suitcase weighs TEN Pounds. An Expensive one, being costly will be durable and will weigh SEVEN Pounds. You get two suitcases weighing 50 pounds each as free baggage allowance. If all the appliances that you have mentioned above weigh 80 pounds and the empty suitcases 20 pounds, then you fly free with all of the equipments in the list above. But you have no clothes to wear when you land here.

Make a note of the name of the appliance and the price you paid there. See at what price they are currently sold here. And say if you sell them all or even give them away at a very low price, you will find that the EXACT same machine is available here for 60% of the price you paid abroad. Now sell it there an fold the money into your wallet and your two bags are free for your personal use, such as clothes, shaving kit, all your under garments, suits and other items upto 80 pounds.

The new items here are warranted for ONE Good Year. Some credit cards will extemd the warranty by another year, over and above the Manufacturer's warranty. NOW,, you don't need the Step Up Transformer.
You come up winning.

I sold the sewing machine there and bought a new one here, and with all of the gadgets to go with. They even gave a few free lessons to start you off with, but found that the material costs much much more here till the Indian Stores opened up. Now they find that the DARN Zipper they want to use costs a lot more than the materials. Now they have machines that sew all by themselves. You just set it up and walk away, have a cup of cofee and pick it up. Some times you wonder.. why am I working in any job, when I can make money with a sewing machine. That is for another day.

FH.

Air lines charge $3 per pound to fly them, today/ Shippers charge 50 cents per pound with a lot of head aches that go with the shipping. So, fly free with just a few items that you really need. Currently within Canada, they do not even give you 40 pounds to fly free with. Things are changing.
