Shanthi: Any specific reason you picked Waterloo!!!
Hi,
I work for McAfee and after getting PR, am trying to get internal transfer. McAfee is in Waterloo and hence the decision. My husband has already moved to waterloo and is searching for job, schools and house. And he has not been able to get a single indian acquaintance there not even to say hello. And when I saw this forum, thought this may help us.
Is life in canada really that difficult as portrayed by many ppl in websites?

Just because you had a job in Macafee does not mean that you will get a job in Macafee, Waterloo. It just does not work that way.
I knew one Mr. Wilson (Desi) who used to work in Macafee in 2008. Donot know if he is still there.
If you are a Christian, I can introduce you to some Indian's (through the church).
At the peak of RIM boom, you just have to visit any waterloo park on a sunday and you will see tons of desi. playing with their children. They were all work permit holders of TCS working in RIM.
What I would suggest is that you stay in Toronto /Mississauga and see how the market is there in Waterloo. Waterloo is not that big to offer you a variety of jobs. Now that RIM is in trouble, hiring is very slow and there is no alternative jobs in Waterloo.
I knew of a UK Desi who was hired for a job in waterloo. He was laid off in a year. After that and till now (after 6 years) he is still working odd jobs.
Toronto (GTA) is a huge market and you should concentrate there.
Just my opinion.
