One advise I impart to all immigrants.
Why not keep your eyes and ears open and be flexible to move wherever in the country you may find a job. Don't do the same mistake that most of the Desis commit. Land in GTA and stay there for sometime, and not Waterloo, where despite of it being called the Silicon Valley of Canada doesn't have abundance of IT jobs. If you stay in GTA, there are more chances of you getting a job in IT. As I said, while you're at it - keep your ears and eyes open to see if you may have to relocate to find a well paying job in your own field. This will provide you initial foothold and much needed (so freaking called) Canadian Experience. Once you will have worked for 2-3 years, move wherever you love to live with your professional equity.
My simple funda in life - move wherever (in Canada) the job is. Unemployment and sitting at home while mass sending the resume is one heck of a depressed thing. GTA is not the end of the world, and contrary to the popular belief, not at all the center of the universe.
Hi,
Thanks everyone for the replies. Yes, we do have GTA in our radar. We are provinicial nominees and can work only in Ontario.
TK - the UK desi, after having 1 year canadian experience, why didnt he move to GTA or wherever IT job is there? Is it something like, 1 year of canadian experience is of not much value? Sorry, my question may be naive, but it just crossed my mind. I am not a christian, but would be more than happy to get to know them.
